Mine's the same. Must be something for different versions.

 

Same on my 2013 CNRB TDI. I've seen that years ago. I thought a service department guy may have done it, but others online had the same. Might be for an option my Touareg doesn't have. Or maybe a vent of some kind. I never investigated deeply.

 

If you guys think you've discovered something, why don't you trace it down to the other end to see what it attaches to?

If you look inside the heat shielding you can see the cap.

 

Guys if you are all looking at breathers at the back of the turbo this is my CASA and the location of the mounting of the tranny and trf breathers. Hope this puts it into perspective !! ..... if not then i am lost on this thread but thats a bit like all my life so nothing new.
