Keldo's script should be called LogVolBlocker, or maybe VolMgrSlayer :)

"
slay vdev-logvolmgr
"

People will use 'activator' word cause it makes navi work. They don't care how, even if it's not activating anything at all... The drawback of Keldo's script is that every time You press center knob of the RNS system, You'll hear "Navigation is not activated" message.

I've made a cure for it also, if anone's annoyed by it...
Hello, I know it's not the right thread but please help me! Can someone post a working script for the boot screen change (i have the FW 0824) and all scripts I found on the net or other topics won't work. I really believe Lysy must know something... I installed the new Navigation database and it works perfectly (thanks again Lysy!). Though the activator that worked for me was the one that came with the firmware update (0824). The activators posted here didn't work for me. Thank in advance for your help!

You have a firmware which doesn't allow to run any scripts. I though that my version was corrupted as well, but it wasn't. You can't do anything with Your startup screen until You reinstall the firmware with the proper one.

Use this once. Afer the upload wil complete use it again, choose User defined mode, then check whether every module was updated. If You'll have everywhere 'N' it was fully updated in the first try, if not proceed with things weren't updated:
Thanks Lysy! This FW supports scrips. All modules have loaded on the first try. I had only N the second time. The only thing that is annoying is that I lost the blue arrow on the navigation. It's red now. How can I make it to return (blue arrow)? I have to download the entire 6.36.0 map update again or is there another easier solution?
Google Earth works only with the script from t7p club now? I saw it costs 70 EUR. Is this the only solution? I have a SIM unit MY 2011.

You can put Your 6.36.0 maps into a slot, turn on update, choose User defined mode and pick ONLY MapStyles! It will bring new graphic back.

Google Earth is a very long story. We've spent many hours with DrGER figuring mechanism out and the conclusion was; You need a special servers for API Google Maps to get them working. 'client.audi' was blocked.

Do you know for certain that your RNS850 has a mobile data connection with the internal 3G modem & your (activated) data SIM ?
If you can confirm that your RNS850 has a mobile data connection, the solution offered by audi-mib.bg for MMI3GP systems ( Google Earth - Audi-MIB.bg ) is known to work -- I bought his solution in early '21 for our NAR MMI3GP system and it still works for us using an external LTE router (since AT&T ended their 3G network here last year). --g

Since I've installed the GE_enable script, the Google Earth check box is functional. When I check it it says loading services....(but no more services to load :) . The two arrows in opposite direction on the signal status bar work also. The online POI work also.
I reached to audi-mib.bg and they said that I have a patched RNS, since I have FW P0824 and navigation database 6.36.0. and so they don't give 100 % guarantee that it will work (they say only on stock units). On patched units 0% guarantee they say... What do you think? Should I take the risk?

What about Popkorn and t7pclub? I think many people uses his solution without any problems. Have a look at his facebook group... P0824 isn't patching anything, it's normal VW firmware (edited by me, but in a slight way). The GEMMI module wasn't touched and it's the same version number as it was in the previous firmwares from P0821. You could enable Your GEMMI function from GreenMenu also, no need to do it via script. 6.36.0 is a simple maps convertion, has no influence on downloading Google Maps data through his servers.

I don't have facebook :) . Can I contact him via email or whatsapp? I will give it a try. Basically you say it can work on my unit no?

HIs "patch" is a self-extracting QNX binary that installs (1) a new gemmi_final binary in /mnt/nav/gemmi/ and (2) installs a new QNX binary called runner in /mnt/gracenode/runner/ and replaces /mnt/efs-system/usr/bin/run_gemmi.sh to start his new runner process. As best I can tell, this "patch" will run on ANY MMI3GP system for Audi or VW. He just doesn't want to have to support special cases (but I can't think of any cases that would prevent his patch from installing & running). So, given that you have a working 3G mobile data, I think that Audi-MIB's solution will work on your RNS850.

Now, for me two years ago 70 or so euro wasn't a big deal -- it's still not a big deal. I find the 3D Google Earth display (note that this is NOT Google Maps -- the gemmi_final process supplies a graphic display layer over which to display map and navigation data received from the installed database) more visually appealing than the standard map view (which is still pretty good for the age of the system). --g

What firmware do You have?

User defined, tick all to Y except for Bootloader (it can't be ticked). Ignore N/A modules. Erasing old nav database partition is not necessary.

Could You please tell me from where You've downloaded Your first P0824 firmware, that one with reading scripts problem?
