Perforation means rust needs to go all the way through and make a hole on your sheet metal. Don't think bubbles will qualify.

 

Take it in, Vw has been known to repaint entire panels with bubbles.

 

Mine is far worse than that, esprcially under the license plate....an area about 2"x32, cracked, bubbled, rusty looking. Dealership took photos yesterday and sent them off to VW. Will see what they have to say and report back.

 

You don't get bubbles like that unless there is moisture coming through the panel from the inside. If you took the interior panel off and were to look inside you would find the area rusted.

What Island are you on? I'm planning on going to Maui for the 3rd time this winter. Love it there.

^^^^^^^^^^^^ That looks like the paint where the chrome moulding meets it was damaged and and is rusting from the outside. I would remove that moulding to see how much is rusting behind it. If that area had been repaired and painted before, the paint may have been damaged when the moulding was re-installed.

 

I have a small area on the inside of my rear door that I have been waiting almost a year now for them to give me some type of answer on...good luck...

 

Would that be the lower curved part of the door that shuts onto the rubber seal by any chance?

Looking at the pictures of the blue car just above, it is the inside of the curve.

 

Any luck with your claims? I'm having issues with VW on a blistering behind my license plate.

 

None yet, I had the dealer take pics to send to VWOA and he said the process would take a while. I have since sold that Touareg and bought another one.
