Does anyone know how to get their hands on any internal engine components for the V10? Perhaps even R50 stuff. I am in need of a complete rebuild on my 04' V10. Ok Ok, here is the story....

We were wheeling through the rocks perfectly, kicking just about every jeeps ass through the technical rock faces with nothing but a aired down, full locked Touareg. The problem came when ego and stupidity mix with deep mud crossings. The culprit was approx 30" deep and long enough to completely swallow the Treg. Luckily a heavy foot and 6000lbs of mementum pushed us through to the other sided where we came to an abrupt halt.

Unfortunely that halt was caused by water being sucked throught the turbos, and straight into the intake where the motor was hydrolocked. Pulling the glow plugs managed to clear the cylenders, but it was too late. I am left with a knocking, missing, Touareg that smokes oil out the rear like it is making a smoke screen in a batman movie!

Please help, any guidance would be great towards finding internals and/or a used motor for under 6k. VW doesnt make any components for the motor either, they only sell the complete unit for the deeply discounted price of 16k. I have found one used unit for 6k, but am always looking for better options. And I guess a snorkel kit is in the works now as well.

Wow.. thats a story!

Check out 1stVWParts.. they appear to list engine components - though your used engine quote sounds pretty good. Some other dealers also list an online parts catalog - emichvw among them.

I'm surprised you didnt have a flood in back. There are cabin air vents at about the 2 foot level just behind the body-colored bumper portion behind the rear wheelwells. The mud must have been thick.

Also, depending how far you are from Columbus, OH, I know one local guy who works on exotic cars, when fancy dealerships fail. Can talk to him, what it would cost to get her rebuilt.
