MY 2004 VW TOUAREG HAS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH ITS TRANSMISSION. WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP OR LOW SPEED THE TRUCK HESITATES AND THEN LURCHES FORWARD. I HAVE CONTACTED VW AND THE DEALERSHIP WITH NO RESOLUTION. I HAVE TALKED WITH OTHER TOUAREG OWNERS AND THEY HAVE THE SAME COMPLAINT, SO IT APPEARS TO BE AFFECTING MORE THAN A SINGLE VEHICLE.

Ok, here is something to think about, when accelerating from a dead stop, are you on uneven terrain? What I mean is it possible one wheel is leaving the ground enough to cause wheel spin and have ESP kick in? In my experience the only thing that really ever caused this supposed death lag was described above. If I know the area I am pulling out of is uneven enough to possibly cause wheel spin, I turn ESP off. This way the wheel spins a little, but the car it still being moved by the other 3 wheels.

If that is not the case then you need to do a reset of the adaptive throttle. You don't need the VAG for this. Just go out to the Treg put the key in the ignition and hold the accelerator the whole way to the floor. Then turn the key to on, do not I repeat do not start the vehical at all. You just want the accessory mode. Hold the pedal to the floor for about 10 seconds then turn the car off. Next time you drive it the car will learn your way of driving.

make sure you are not touching brake pedal with left foot. When I bought new Treg I found I would take off half a car length and die as if fuel cut off then resume full acceleration. Same on v.slow round- a- bouts. Dealer could find no faults. Then went driving with me and notices I drove with both feet - often brushing brake pedal as left parking bay or on slow tight round-a-bouts. This told computer to shut fuel for braking at same time trying to accelerate causing hesitation as I would pull out into traffic- scary!

Cure - only use right foot ,keep left on floor - no more problems. Hope your problem is that simple.

Did you get that done at the vw dealer or can any body do it at a local mechanic shop.....and how much did it cost you? I just might need that done to my treg.......I'm also noticing that my engine is loud ....I thought and still think it is normal on the v8.....been like that ever since I bought the truck........BUT everyone always brings it to my attention when the hood is open......is it really normal or is their something wrong........dealer just did a oil change and topped off all fluids?????? What's your suggestions???

I complained and they have done it at the dealer... apparently not warranty covered...it was around $70 for labour...again since then vast improvement. Not sure why they don't check this every 20,000 kms etc. Re the loudness...mine is not loud but this is subjective...take the video clip and upload to youtube and let us hear it.
