Updated the maps/software to the latest VW have on the website Default Title
As a result the traffic reports are back! I lost this in the last update. Great to see TMC working again, highlights all the reports, areas on the VC and main display.
Reports are of course through Suna and load up pretty quick.

The update took one full hour btw, so hook up a charger rather than generating emissions..

I got the same problem trying to update maps.
MY21, Innovision hardware 760035067B on software 2828.
Hanging on 0%.
Tried two different SD cards, folders are in the root, tried NTFS and exFAT, extracted directly to the card.
Plug in SD card and unit says update available... then does nothing.
Interestingly, even if there's no SD card in the slot, if you go to the menu and try to update it still says "updating 0%"

Will try some more permutations, otherwise I'll make it the dealer's problem when it goes for service :)

I tried to load the latest maps last month. I followed all the "rules" as before but the car wouldn't even acknowledge the update. I repeated the process twice more with no luck. I have a service booked next week and I asked the dealer to update the car (original software) and maps (Jan 2022) software. He said he could do the car but not the maps as there is a software problem that is stopping him at the moment. I'll try and get more info from him about that.

I was able to hop into a new MY23 R-Line at the dealership over the weekend and noticed it had s/w version 2869 loaded.

By next model it appears that more functions could be subscription, licence based....most manufacturers going that way, want dynamic light assist then pay $800, want trailer assist for some time then pay $10 per month...

After struggling getting the map update to work I had some success yesterday.

TL;DR: I used the USB under the armrest instead of the SD card slot.

The issue: I had an SD card, formatted NTFS with the map update. Popped it in the SD card slot - tells me that it's updating but then gets stuck on 0%.
Tried a different card, exFAT formatting - no luck.

Curiously, even without an SD card in, if I went to 'update software' it did exactly the same thing.
I was beginning to suspect the SD card reader.

Yesterday I thought I'd see if I could do a firmware update from 2828 to 2838.
Popped the card in the slot, opened the service menu (press and hold 'menu'), went to update. System rebooted into engineering mode.
Went to to the update and the SD card source is greyed out. Hmm.

Got my USB-SD card adapter. Put the exact same SD card in the USB adapter and plugged it in under the armrest. It found the USB source and did the update.

Wondered if the same might work for the maps. It did.

So... I think the SD card reader may be slightly broken. I need to test it with some music or something.

Oh - one other thing - I think it's important that the SD card write protection switch is set.

Anyway, that's how I got it to work. May not work for everyone :)

EDIT: ...and now my traffic is working :)

Good stuff, you got it all sorted.
Perhaps others could try this...why it won't work for some MY models straight off sd card remains a mystery

Just tried this and still no luck at all. Tried through USB 1 & 2. Using a Lexar USB 3.1 to SD adapter
All I get is "Reading data" and a spinning hourglass thingy.

If I remove the map SD card and replace it with another SD card containing radio station logos for example, then it reads for a short while and loads ready for use. no issues.
So frustrating.............

You may well be right, but, my first map upgrade, several months ago was in usb1(under armrest) eventually worked. 2nd upgrade , refused to work in usb1, tried in sd card, would`nt work for me. went to dealer, he d/l his own copy to sd card, worked. I am trying recent upgrade. says no data found in sd and usb.
If it was hardware( I have the early unit) then usb1 would be intermittent. I have a usb stick full of music, which works perfectly in usb1. So the firmware in the the early unit can read what sort of software is in usb1( mp3), why can`t it read the map software??

Yep. Lots of variables - hardware version, firmware version, whether it's a Tuesday in a month ending with 'ary' or not...
@Steve104 try enabling traffic. I know of another forum member with a MY19, older firmware, new maps and working traffic.

All I know is that
1. My car was delivered 18 months ago with firmware 2828. Traffic has never worked even with TMC set to 1024 etc, to which it's been set for over a year. Suddenly works now I'm on 2838.
2. I did a map update last year (installed maps 2021.3 while still on 2828) without issue. But it wouldn't take the latest maps (2022.1) until I upgraded the firmware a couple of weeks ago.

Maybe I'll start a spreadsheet so we can capture users' hardware, firmware, map version and success (or not). Then maybe we can start seeing a pattern...

I asked earlier in the thread for folks to provide some of these details, and there are some there to start with.
Agree, it would then reveal where the issue could be

New Australia/New Zealand maps are out for CR models in both the Discover Pro and Discover premium units.
P603 version https://navigation-maps.volkswagen.com/vw-maps/P603_MIB2P_RW.7z

Great, thanks for the update...I note VW are adding more 3d buildings, landscapes to the maps

#154 ·
Safe to say this software version is compatible to all the CRs then

I can't even get the screen to find the software. It just keeps searching for software. I've tried the Sd card and the usb adaptors, but the same result. I'm using the P603 software.
I formatted the micro Sd card (128Gb) as NTFS and then extracted the Data and Meta folders to the root directory, as I've done in the past. I fitted the card to an SD adaptor and inserted in the glovebox. No good. The car could not find any suitable software. I used an Sd - USB adaptor in the arm-rest but it said that the data was not compatible and again, no good. I checked my sd card adaptor was working, using my laptop reader and the folders
were clearly recognised. I've run out of ideas. I've always managed the updates before, but not this time.
I would be more hopeful if the update process had started, at 0%, but I can't even get the software to be recognised. I just get the message "searching for software" and that's it!
Anyone else having this problem?

Where are you located. If Perth you can try my SD.

I thought I'd give my 128 GB micro SD card a try using the ExFAT format as described in the posts. I haven't used this method before and was looking to change the allocation unit size to the ones suggested. However, using my Win 10 computer I don't have the option of 4 kb or 4096 bytes, both of which are the suggested sizes. I can select the default size, but I don't know what size that is. The smallest size for me is 8192 bytes but there is an option of 4096 kilobytes. I formatted using 4096kb anyway, which seemed OK, but I didn't have any luck (again) at the first attempt, hence this question. I'll try the MMI reset sequence next.

#179 ·
Have you tried a smaller 32gb card? For what I discern the unit is sensitive to how it can read

#182 ·
Finally, back home and downloaded the latest maps, extracted to a 32gb card that I use for every update -formatted it using NTFS and 4096 allocation.
Data and Meta folders have to be in the root directory of course.

Placed the card in the slot, turned on ignition and selected Update Software from the System Information screen, it immediately recognised the update.
Took about the usual 40mins.
** To clarify, you can't use the Engineering mode to go and update software(2nd and last picture below), but as wayne888 mentioned you can use to 'reset'
