Hi all,
I'm have intermittent problems starting my 2006 2.5.
It will start and stay running for 1 - 2 seconds and then stop. it may take 15 to 20 attempts and eventually will start. It has happened 3 times in the last 3 weeks. It has happened in the morning and also when the engine was hot after a 120mile journey.
I would realy appreciate anyone help on this.
Thanks

There's good posts on battery replacement. You only need to undo two bolts in the floor at the front of the seat for the seat to hinge back out of the way. DON'T take the seat out!!

2.5 touareg non start

I can't be sure if its the battery or not. I'm going to check it later today.

If it was the battery I thought it would eventually run down and not turn over at all????
It will turn over as often as you want it to, run for 2 seconds and then cut out. Eventually it will start and stay running

Yeah i had the exact same problem before christmas, its the black gunk in your inlet manifold..makes the valve stick full open...too much air for the engine to start...there is apparently a manual way to operate it to make it unstick...but the big story is..you need to get the hole lot off sooner rather than later and have it cleaned.
There are a number of threads around about this problem.

I removed and cleaned the intake manifold and the butterfly valve, the switch was seizing due to a hugh build-up of black gunk. intake manifold wasn't to bad. All is good for now.

I'll see how it goes for the next few days.
Thanks for all your help guys. Appreciate it.
