The Touareg in the video above looks like a 2016 model year - if it was built after August 2015 it will be a 2016 model, regardless of it's date of first registration.

The facelifts were made from late 2014, or to avoid the issues just buy a pre facelift with the second gen TDI (2012-2014) without ACC like me lol

Also, has anyone actually tried getting the lights apart? I haven't been game yet, have tried to buy people failed ones but they seem to want a million dollars for paperweights.

 

I’ve tried get two lights apart on two different occasions. I even purchased the new replacement parts from Aliexpress. Unfortunately I failed in both attempts. On the first attempt I didn’t realise the light assembly was too big to fit in my kitchen oven, so I went to plan b and tried with a heat gun which did tend to soften the glue as well as the plastic housing. So that went in the bin. I recently failed another one so I thought I’d use the bbq on low heat with the headlight supported so it wasn’t in contact with anything hot or flame. I took it up to 130c for 15 minutes then tried to get the lens off- again failure. So a new light from vw for $2200. What a rip off. I’ve still got the faulty light and I haven’t given up yet. I hate being defeated. Cheers Andrew
