HI all, my Touareg 2006 3.6 FSI has had an irritating throttle delay since purchasing second hand 3-4 years ago. The delay is around 3-5 seconds usually so entering into moving traffic from stop is always a balance between excitement and eminent danger.
So far I've done an accelerator pedal reset, Replaced all fuel pumps, screens and filters in the tanks, Replaced the high pressure fuel pump at the fuel rail, Replaced the injectors and Cleaned the MAP sensor. I suppose the Throttle Position sensor is next or the accelerator pedal assy itself. Is there anything else anyone knows of please ?? A knowledgable solution would be much appreciated.

Thanks Gnits. There's not been any fault codes that seem to be related to this. Yes the throttle body is clean inside and out and I don't have any electrical issues that I am aware of.

You can check the throttle pedal readings and the throttle body response by looking at live diagnostic data. If these seem to be okay and swift, you might also want to verify MAF response and fuel injection values (ie. whether those also change promptly in response to accelerator and throttle body changes).

What kind of reader did you use to check for fault codes?

Better get your own reader. Pays for itself the first time you don't have to take your car to a mechanic to read the codes, and pays 10x for itself the first time they (ie. the mechanics) don't make you replace an expensive part you don't actually need replaced. Best get OBDeleven or VCDS, because generic OBD readers will not allow you to read or set anything beyond the most basic things.

See if you can buy an used VCDS. When you leave VW land, you will be able to sell a used one for almost what you paid for it.

I would seafoam the car - first, seafoam half a can to a full can from the intake.. then, put half a can to a full can in the fuel tank. This has always helped me significantly in all of my cars

Second, I'm wondering if a tune would removed that hesitation that you refer to.

Third - You can try to do a transmission learn reset procedure

Thanks Volksy for life, I'll take a look into those. Engine and fuel system is in immaculate as new condition inside and out so probably wont add anything though (IE: seafoam) (Recently took the engine out for a timing chain replacement and the crankcase and all parts etc are like factory new). Brilliant car although the lag has been there for over 4 years and still unresolved though.

Malone Tuning - 31hp and 26 ft/lbs
VRtuned - 22hp 18ft/lbs torque

I'd say tuning is a win-win to tune it anyways.
