The G 055 - G 052 Confusion!

Greetings!

I need a little advice here, please. If my question has been answered elsewhere, I have not yet seen it. So, kindly indicate and I will have a look.

The repair manual for the 2006 Touareg specifies transmission fluid G 055 025 A2 for the 6 Speed Automatic Transmission 09D All-Wheel Drive. It does not mention G 052. However, many here have indicated that they use Valvoline Max Life Multi-Vehicle (ATF) Full Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid without issues. This fluid, however, does not speak to G 055, but to G 052.

Is it that there is little/no difference between the two? Am I missing something here? Is my manual outdated? Can I safely use the G 052? I am confused. Kindly advise. Thank you.

If you are trying to use OEM fluid, stick with whats in your manual G 055 025 A. 052 or 055 either works.
But there are many aftermarket fluid that meets Volkswagen specs. As for the Valvoline Max Life fluid, I have heard of people using it in their Touaregs without issues, but I won't do the same and I won't recommend it. Don't cheap out here.

Here are some options:
Mobil 1 ATF 3309 ("VW G-055-025-A2", and bottle also has the very same shape and design as the original VW one)
Liqui Moly Top Tec ATF 1200 ("VW G 055 025")
Febi ATF 29934 / 101161 ("VW G 055 025 / G 055 025 A2")
Ravenol T-IV Fluid ("VW/AUDI G 055 025 A2")
Meyle 014 019 2300 ("VW G 055 025")
febi 29934 / SWAG 81 92 9934 / Blue Print ADG05532 ("G 055 025 / G 055 025 A2")
Vaico Automatic Transmission Oil ATF Spezial V60-0208 ("VW/ AUDI: G-052-025-A2 / G-052-162-A1")
Addinol ATF XN PLUS ("VW/Audi G-055-025-A2")

I used AISIN ATF0T4 in my 05.
