I am now very irritated with my 2009 Touareg. This is the third time in as many weeks that my 2009 Touareg TDI will not start. There is power to all of the dash components but the engine does not crank. It has been into the dealer twice with no reason given to explain or fix the problem. The first time they replaced the battery so that is obviously not the problem. It does not have a keyless start system, just manual.

Really hoping that someone on this forum has found a reason and a fix for this.

Thanks.

what happens when you try to start it. Does it say starting engine on the MFD? Do the lights dim? do you hear a click?

Perhaps it's just a loose connection at the starter solenoid.

in the shop

so the car has now been with the dealer since last wednesday, over a week, and they have not yet been able to replicate the issue. i brought up the kessy possibility but the comment was that there are so many parts that may be the cause that they can't just go and test every single element. the only culprit that they have a slight bend towards is an engine strap (?), at least i think that was what he called it. said that it was causing a mild drain. They said that there were no codes available from any of the non-starting events.

When i try to start it, there is no click, no sound, no nothing. All the interior lights are on, radio, and headlights. the lights do not dim but it also doesn't read "starting engine" either.

the vehicle was a certified used vw with a 2 year warranty but they said that my warranty was over due to the mileage, which capped at 60,000 miles, which sounds suspect to me. going to have to review the purchase paperwork to confirm.
