Could you both point out to me where this was a positive for the OP?
Briggs and Stratton make good lawnmower engines. Buy one, OP. Kawasaki too!

I know a vr6 won't def fault and lock you out after 600 miles.
There is a 1 minute process to reset the lockout countdown, that will keep you from being stranded on a road trip. It’s documented in the wiki linked on my signature. Feel like guessing what tool you need to perform it?

Touché 🤣

His point still stands though. Inherently unreliable emissions operations on these things which can lead to being stranded and worse

Had a lawnmower years back with a Honda engine on it. Damn reliable engine.
Also great engines! If I got another push mower I'd probably gun for a Honda

That's my only usa tdi complaint. The def is ammonia. Somehow the government wants you to spill ammonia in your rig and if you add water it makes ammonia gas like a world War one trench. Plus the system likes to break down with unnecessary tanks and heaters.. a high fail rate of level sensors. To which if you cant fix it yourself you pay for issues that are not even related to drivability because the government told me so. Other than that I love my Tdi as a wicked fast fake q7.

This was a post about injectors that was slammed and hijacked off topic for a new user. Just saying.. if your nice to the new folks.. you get more new folks to the page. In my gibberish period I found the site has like 20 active users. And and new users gets gate keepers who trash them.. making new users unwelcome. Your welcome...

Hey Cyclopes, I know you're down an eye, but c'mon man..... read what I type!

We have plenty of TDI owners even around here who's mills don't blow up the way all those you're referencing (read, people ignoring codes, driving with MILs on, skipping maintenance, using incorrect fluids, etc) do.

If you want to dumb down the answer to that extent, it's like this:
  • a gasser will be more tolerant to neglect than a TDI
  • a PD TDI will be more tolerant to neglect than a CR TDI
Im new to TDI's, what years are PD TDI v CR TDI

The only PD diesel Touareg sold in NA was the V10 TDI. The V6 CATA and CNRB are both CR. So if you're looking at a North American V6 TDI - it's a CR. If you're looking at a North American V10 TDI - it's a PD.

Thanks. I was hoping for a 15+ TDI as a DD and to occasionally tow. I missed a TDI at my local dealer auction that was dirt cheap I should have bought, because of how familiar I am W/VR6 engines (multiple R32 owner) I thought maybe thats the way to go. I don't want any crazy bills with the TDI

In what model are you asking about? Touaregs or something else?
Touaregs only
