Hi
My T2 is awaiting its knocking suspension components to arrive so I thought i'd start the next niggle, the auto boot stalled when the car was parked with its rear end up a hill, on the flat it does it no problem. My ETKA is getting too expensive to maintain so I have lost my access to the parts manual. The glass struts are weak so I have ordered them, could someone tell me what other ones I should do while I am in there--it is hydraulic--but is the hydraulic just assistance to 4 gas struts or is the hydraulic strut taking the place of one of the gas struts?

I would start by just repalcing the drivers side gas tailgate strut and see if that helped before i started to stuff with the hydraulic part on the LHS.
Pump will cost new about $300
Hydraulic assisted strut about $1200

This is the Hydraulic componet part of the auto tailgate.

Is it 3 struts plus the hydraulic assistance, or is it 4 struts plus hydraulic assistance. Has anyone got all the part numbers--I have ordered the glass struts--just need the numbers for the remaining struts.

I believe that the glass struts are the same as you have ordered.
But it seems that the main lift struts are different on the RHS and the LHS is the hydraulic cylinder so no normal strut.

See highlighted parts listing.

Ordered $68 US brand new along with a load of clips and fittings for roof lining and trim taking it to $123 US. Jim Ellis Auto Spares. His website is pretty good with exerts from ETKA to identify the bits you need.

Just want to add my tuppence worth to this thread. I replaced mine yesterday, mine has the powered tailgate which was struggling so I replaced the remaining 3 manual struts. The plastic covers were held on with both plastic torx bolts and plastic rivets, these are a pain. The torx bolts came out easily. The rivets after trying to salvage them for 30 mins I realized you have to push the center pin through to be lost forever in the welded body panels. Then it comes out easily. The body sealer is a botchy seal--old school, I made a foam seal. Then the raise height was slightly lower. So the hydraulics needed re-calibrating. To re-calibrate push the boot to fully open position. Then press and hold the tailgate close button till the hazard ligts/indicators blink.
