T3 TDI Whine Diagnosis

Took my 2013 TDI in for a 30K service yesterday. Since then, have noticed a strange high-pitched whine coming from somewhere in the center of the engine bay. It is only there when in forward motion. When braking, it comes to a crecendo and then cuts out. It is not apparent in park or reverse. Also doesn't seem to change pitch with speed, although when accelerating it is drowned out by regular engine noise. Power steering fluid is full. Called dealer and no adjustments were made to serpentine belt. The only work done was routine stuff, including brake flush. Made appointment to go back in on Saturday. Any guesses as to the source?

LoL to the wife comment... I've managed to avoid one of those at least, although my dog occasionally pitches in from the back seat if I drive past the dog park...

No one's even got a guess? It's driving me mad! Very faint, but always there while moving. It's definitely not brake noise, as it doesn't modulate with pressure changes on the pedal, nor happen in reverse. No noise when swinging the steering about either. It sounds like bearing noise on the serpentine, but it's only there with forward motion, can't hear a peep in park even with the hood up and my ear as close to the belt as I'm comfortable getting.

Please tell me that while you have a woof but no wife you still have a warranty . . .

Well, thanks for the input all. Turns out to have been a non-issue. The night before I was to take it to the dealer to get checked out, I swung through the car wash for my monthly deep clean. Spent a good amount of time on the undercarriage, as I'd driven through salt recently. Hopped back in afterward and drove off, and no more whine at all! So clearly either something was physically rubbing on a driveshaft or the propshaft, or else during the oil change/brake bleed some oil residue got on something. Why it was only present in forward motion is beyond me - hard to figure that bit out, but the fact that it cleared up miraculously is reason enough to be thankful. The whole experience has gotten me shopping for an extended warranty though.
