According to my T3 owners manual (pg 485) folding chocks are part of the tool kit. Does anyone have these?

Yes, I believe they're in the lower level of the spare tire jack tool trays. There are two of them side by side, folded relatively flat. I'm not sure, but I doubt the hybrid has them, probably only gasser and TDI (I have TDI).

Do you get them even if you don't have the spare wheel?

And what if you have no spare wheel, just the can of puncture gunk and an air pump, do you still get the wheel brace and jack?

I have the spare tire setup, but I'm pretty sure I've heard from others on this forum that its either-or. If you have the hybrid, you get the tire repair kit, if its gas/diesel, you get the tire replacement kit (spare tire plus jack and tools to replace said tire).

I do have set of chocks and spare wheel with whole bunch of other things in there. The spare, however, has collapsible tire on bright red rim, not a full size spare. I do believe that this is the way all, but hybrids are equipped for the US market (Hybrids do have run-flats, do they?). The only part that was missing from the trunk equipment was a second towing eye, which was courteously added to the set by my dealer upon first request. At that time they’ve figured that none of four or five Touaregs on their lot had a set of two and they’ve communicated this issue to the VW of A. Perhaps the 2013 vintage has both of them. Some folks might say it’s not a big deal having one, but if you plan to do some off-roading it is good to have both eyes installed before entering an unknown off-road terrain.

A bit off topic, but I want to praise the quality and efficiency of the included air compressor. No, I did not get flat tire on my Touareg. But recently, when I was dropping my daughter back to the U after winter break, we’ve found her bike’s tires deflated to pillow softness – it was some digits below 0F outside with 25 MPH winds. The hand air-pump refused to work. The situation has presented a chance to test Touareg’s air compressor. It pumped so fast that I’m afraid her bike’s tires are well overinflated now. And, OMG! – wasn’t it nice to jump back to the heated drive seat after messing with the bike having only a sweatshirt on? At that very time I’ve wished that the LUX would have heated steering wheel…

Success! I found the chocks. Thanks to relster, who mentioned that there was a lower level to the tool kit. The chocks were pretty well hidden along with an assortment of other tools.

I wonder what other "Secrets of the Touareg" I will discover? :)

No tool kit/jack or spare tire on hybrid :( Just a lousy slime and a compressor, however I always carry a tire repair kit. In reality that is all you need in 99% of the time and I don't even have to take the wheel of to plug it :)

Mine only came with one, have to ask the dealer about that.
I assumed it was only supposed to come with one. Will have to check back with the dealer at the one-month service.

Doh - Chocks! So that is what those things are. I fiddled with those odd pieces of metal for 5 minutes trying to figure out they could possibly be for. I gave up. Just like a German to engineer wheel chocks. Thanks for solving that mystery for me.

Good luck since they have all only ever come with one. I have two because I bought another one. It will probably depend on how good of a relationship you have with your dealer.
