First off, I did some search and there are conflicting posts... so I hope someone who's had both can chime in.
As titles states, what is the consensus overall for the new vs. 1st gen facelift Touareg V6TDI versions?
To me, personally, the new Touareg looks cheapened for some reason, while it definitely has lost some weight and should handle better. The price difference is quite a bit, and am wondering if the extra cost is worth it?
- How does the TDI engine compare between the two?
- How's performance of the two compare (cannot find any match-up review)?
- What about handling? T2 steel suspension was a bit of a boat... although I never tried the Air Suspension
- How does Air Suspension sport handle vs. newer non-air (but lighter) T3?
- How's equipment upgrade such as Audio, Nav, BT, etc... significant?
- Cargo room? To me, the old Touareg looks roomier in the cargo area. Which has a better hauling capacity with seats down?
- Reliability (#1 concern of mine)! Apart from age causing reliability issues, which has had a better track record? I know this platform in Cayenne has been absolutely horrendous but data on Touareg is not easily available. Is Touareg any better than Cayenne?
At last, would you pick a used Cayenne over Touareg? To me, the one thing Cayenne gets right is handling, everything else is kind of a equal, but I really like the TDI option. Has the new Touareg made any handling advances? Could the Cayenne swaybars just fix the T2 roll?
