I have the 2012 DTI 33K miles with the Optical Parking /Distance Control system. It's been acting up lately. Seems when it gets around Zero F. the front sensors tend to go off all the time till you get above 8 mph. It's not ice or snow on the bumper either. I've checked several times and ran the vehicle thru the car was too. I realize I can push the "cut-off" button on the dash to turn off the feature, but that's not the point.

We recently had warmer weather upper 20s and lower 30s and the park sensor problem went away. I read up on some old threads that discussed some corrosion on the sensors of older models 04-06 vintage. But with mine being fairly new, I didn't think that would be the issue already. Was wondering if any of you cold weather guys have had a similar issue?

Going to see the dealer on 1-2-14.

Nope, never had any problems with sensors giving false readings. It is -25 deg c now and never had any problems unless its covered in snow or ice or dirt or something actually in front of it. I would take it to the dealer so that they can check to see if there are any errors in that part of the circuit. Might need a reboot on those sensors. possibly too sensitive default setting by the factory??

My sensors in front go off when it's snowy and also when the sensors are iced or dirty from salt, etc. More sensitive than my T1. I do my best to keep 'me clean.

I have had the same issue. It has occurred twice and both times it was the front passenger side half/corner. The weather was also very snowy/wet and in the teens (F). Both times I thought perhaps it was covered with ice/snow/slush but it was not the case when I checked it with my hand. On both occasions the vehicle was already driven a substantial distance and was warmed up. Also the issue occurred multiple times in the same day even after the vehicle was turned off, locked and left to sit for upwards of an hour. The issue did go away after the vehicle sat overnight.

I plan on bringing it up at my next service appointment next month. The forecast is predicting a return of cold weather and if this issue returns I want to video document it occurring.

I also have a '12 TDI...
