Hello

Our 2004 Touareg says System Fault Workshop with a key symbol at the top. It also makes a beeping sound sometimes when we are driving. Any idea what it could be? We had the battery die on use a couple of times recently too. The previous owner said they used a spare key and now the car does that... Does that make sense? Any way to fix it? Thanks.

I just picked up my new to me 2004 V8 from a used Car dealer and got this same message this afternoon ( system fault workshop and the key symbol ) I let the vehicle sit for a few hours then went out for a longer drive and there was no error message on start up.

Should I be concerned about this and take it back to the dealer? I have read some of the other older threads on this error message and it seems there could be a wide range of things happening here.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It might be time for a new battery which is normal if it has never been changed out.

you will get more errors on your display that makes no sense. It is because of the battery.

Have a Eletrical tech check it out.

Be on the safe side. Take it to an electrical technician and have them check it out. They will perform some diagnostics on the cars computer.

Touaregs ave so many electrical components that something me be pulling more juice than what is supposed to, may be a relay or a module.

Mine is currently at the shop because the battery was dying out and its brand new. The 4x4 button lights are flashing constantly.

I just hope its nothing serious!
