When my Pirelli Scorpions (255/55R17) are done, I am getting Goodyear Assurance Triple Tred CS Tires . I had very good luck with them on my old 4runner, had 2 sets over 90,000 miles total. Even though the Pirellis seem to handle great, they definitely are wearing fast. I doubt I will get 24k miles from them.

I am sure you won't regret. I went through four sets of Triple Tred tires on different vehicles? They are very nice all-season tires with excellent wet and snow traction (as close to winter tires as one can wish for) though they are a bit noisier than pure HWY tires. Not noisy tires, far from it, but noisier than Michelin Latitude Tour HPs which I am driving on at this time. I would get myself a set on a heartbeat, but they do not make them in 265/50R19.

Agree. I liked NT421Qs a lot,... but they gave me shakes and I was forced to switch to Michelin Latitude Tour HPs. This is the T3 problem though and not of every T3 as I hear.

@Phoenix: I myself have never had pure summer tires on. But my close friend who moved to Irvine 20 or so years ago likes Michelin Latitude Sport tires on his SUV.

Yep, the Nokian is the way to go. I’m on my 3rd set of tires on 03 GMC Yukon with 153K (not my t-reg) I had GY Triple Tread (nice tire, nothing wrong with them + decent in snow), replaced them with Michelin Latitude Tour (ok for summer, but not so much for wet/winter) and replaced them with Nokian WRG-2 SUV this fall. The Nokian was just as quiet if not more quiet, and the biggest thing is the great traction on wet, slush, snow, and even dry. You can supposedly run the WRG2 SUV all year and that’s what I intend to do. Here’s the link:

Nokian WR G2 SUV

In a Northern climate, some of the all-season tires just don’t get it done. They seem ok till you finally experience a real good tire for wet/slush/snow... And I see the OP is from Canada.

Now if you don’t have a local Nokian tire dealer, and the Good Year shop is right around the corner, then you should probably go with the local brand in case you need to replace one down the road. On my T-Reg, I went with a dedicated winter set of Nokian Hakka R-2’s and kept the OEM tires for summer. But if you want one set of tires to do it all, look at WRG-2 SUV

275/50/17
If you've typed that size correctly then that is over an inch undersize on the standard Touareg tire/wheel combination of 29 inches OD.

Point taken. Few choices near the OP size request:

Nokian WR G2 SUV
245 65 R17 closest 0.1%
255 55 R17 < 2%
235 65 R17 < 2%

This is correct - Kal-Tire is the distributor/dealer for Canada. They have also drastically adjusted pricing so that its in line with what you'd get in the US. I bought my Nokians at Kal in October for LESS than the best deal I could get south of the border.

Nokian tyres all the way. I vote for the Nok's every time. I have a set of Hakk's 7 studded and they are as close to a snow competition tyre as you can get. In the spring, I will get the Nokian Z summer tyres.
All the Nok's I have bought have been from Kal-tire. Good deals, bearing in mind that this is by far better than anything else out there. If an "all season" is what you are looking at, go for the WR G2 SUV's

I'm on my third winter with a set of Nordman SUV in western NY. 235-65-17 on Cayanne rims. White hard pack roads are not uncommon this time of year and these tires are fantastic. Smooth stable and quiet on clear highways on the nice days and grip like a tractor on the white stuff - good fun.

Just started my second set of Conti DWS last summer. OEM size 275-45-19 Much better tire all around than the Conti 4X4 factory supplied. Not many choices in that size.

64k miles total.
~7k on the Nordmans so far
less than 20k on the 4X4s
over 28k on first set DWS

A winter tire update - Michelin Latitude Ice 275/45-20 - they were slightly squirmy with the full 11/32nds of tread when new last December, but have settled down nicely after 9,000 miles and a remarkable wear of only 1/32. They feel very secure when braking, accelerating and tracking on snow and ice - plus smooth and quiet at all speeds - rain performance with all of the micro-siping elevates their value in any wet climate for shoulder seasons, too. We’re running the Michelin Latitude Tour HP during the warm months and have been very satisfied with their wear and performance, as well.
