In a previous post i mentioned my touareg last week i went to leave in it and started i took off and it started to misfire and want to die so i left it alone for a hour an went back ran fine

now the other day the engine light came on for crankshaft position sensor then went off for a few days came on back on today and went off well the car started the misfire thing and only got worse now it will start idle for a few secs then die i had to pull it home cause it would not make it anywhere,

What could it be, The battery also seems to be dead as for we had hazard lights on and everything was diming and i had to jump the car to start it to unlock the wheel ( which it died ) after trying to get it home for 6 hours.

Has 103xxx miles I've had it only about 2 weeks so I'm not sure whats been replaced or not

Any help or suggestions will be great

Reality check; you just bought a 7 year old car without a maintenance history. With that comes the expectation that stuff will need fixin'. Start by believing the diagnostic computer. It's clear that that I should never have mentioned fuel pump at this point.

Ordered the part and the guy at the auto store seemed to think diff things will throw the CPS light as well. And was saying if it was bad the car wouldent start. And run then die.
He said it sounds like the priming fuel pump is working but the main Is going out.

I'd like to just get the car running and sell it. If this many problems occurs with vw's

If you have a V6 petrol 3.2 and it is the crank position sensor, then it may be that the timing chain [which if I recall aright is at the back of the engine] has stretched, or the hydraulic tensioner needs replacing.

There have been several reports of this.

Here's a link from another site - the most recent posts are more relevant as the OP now has a fault code.

Actually there are 4 timing chains, and they're all at the rear of the motor. Well, on the diesel anyway. Only way to get at them on my car - even to check - is to pull the engine. It only makes sense to replace a $50 plug-in sensor before getting out the wrenches and engine hoist.
