Had problem with sound system and dealer in not helping!
The Touregs have some white background noise which does not goes a way.

This is extremely annoying in mornings and late at nights.

I have a Buzz that is caused by a faulty module in the Transmission. Is it a buzz or white noise (hiss) that you are hearing.

See my thread here for more info:

Good luck!

Noise

I had the same problem and the VW dealer in Israel fixed it very quickly.

All you have to do is adjust the lower dimmer (The control for the floor lights to a different level), this dimmer is the one that makes the ham noise.

You do it by going into the menu list.
The control for the floor lights are on the steering wheel (right side) Press and select "comfort"...then you can adjust the level of the lights to a different level until the ham goes away.

Hope it helps. :D

No, I wish it were as simple as turning down the footwell lights or even the dash lights. I have just completed a 1500 mile trip ove the last few days, and have played with both settings along the way. The 'buzz' is still there . . . :(

Thanks for the suggestion.

You guys will someday have an accident troubleshooting the VW Touareg electronics while driving. This would not be acceptable in a $ 10.000 vehicle, no less one costing $40-50.000! Sincerely, Geir Friis

GEIR:

You can't make the adjustment while you're driving the TOUAREG. The vehicle has to be stopped because the MFI won't work otherwise.

You either don't have a TOUAREG or haven't screwed around with it enough.

Accidents with comfort settings

Fortunately, VW has forseen that we drivers would play with all the settings in the MFI while driving and has, in its infinite wisdom, locked us out of the "Comfort/Convenience" settings while moving ... sadly, this means I have to set the overspeed alert when stopped. It also does not stop me from paying too much attention to the terrible fuel consumption I'm getting!

Speaker problem

I have the navigation/sound system. The tweeter in my front passenger door began sounding "tinny" or with static like it is blown after about 4000 miles. That was in November. The first speaker Boston VW ordered was incorrect, and by the time the right one came it, and we could schedule an appointment, it was Friday, February 27 before it got replaced. And, much to my despair, the replacement speaker is the same way. This is just one of the many minor and two major issues I've had with my V8. I'm reaching the point where I qualify for the Lemon Law in number of visits and time in the shop! I should've bought an X5!

speaker probelms

i  purchased the upgrade for two reasons. a more powerful amp and the navigation. i love music and have to have a powerful system. if i would have known that after a month i would be having probelms with it a would have gone standard nav and just replacved all the speakers. be careful they are easy to blow out. i replaced them with all new speakers and the difference is amazing. every factory stereo no matter how much the dealer talks it up are paper speakers
