Go to the 17 or 18 inch VW rims with non-sport tires. The sidewall flex will do exactly what I think you are looking for. That will be the easiest way.

I have a second set of 265/65-17 OEM rims and LT tyres and they certainly do give a softer ride (even with LT tyres) than my 20"s.


Best way to solve your issue me thinks especially as you say you drive on bad roads at slow speed..........why have low profiles??

I do not think you will be able to do much ref the air suspension.

As others have said, 17 inch wheels with deeper tyre walls - even going oversize to say 30 inches diameter rather than the standard 29 inches - might be the only way to achieve a slightly smoother ride.

 

Sorry, I'm going to say the same thing. You will have a softer ride with larger tires and larger sidewalls. Maybe you can sell your current tires and wheels? <shrug>

The comfort mode reduced the damping action, so that is actually the best mode to be in. The sport mode, while lower (and theoretically less air pressure), increases the damping action and will result in a rougher ride compared to comfort mode.

 

Can I jump in? Sell the 275's and put on 255/55/19. Then adjust tire pressure about 1-2 psi lower. Done.

I test drove a Touareg with 19" tires. I was told in no uncertain terms that the 19" tires were too rough and would equal a divorce.

Yes. But I just did not like 19's for odd size and little tire selection. So I sold them.

Best compromise there is besides dumping the 19's with new tires and going with 17" if he can even find them. All depends on the tire used as well. Moving up to 255/55 will give more cushion. Is it perfect, no. 17 is my choice on this vehicle. 19 is an odd size anyway. If you want bling, you pay with your chipped teeth. 18 is next next choice. My thinking, swap tires for less hassle, if after 255/55 you cannot stand it, move to a new wheel, plain and simple.

 

I think the V10 is somewhat heavier on the front end than the V8 which may, in fact, help with the compliancy and, therefore, the ride on the oversize tires you have fitted.
