I am an avid VW guy.. I have owned at least 6 VW in the last decade. Left is my 2003 passat W8, 2010 3.2 Audi Q5 and my pride and joy my recent acquisition..a 2011 VW Touareg Lux VR6. I have owned several trucks but they pale to compare to the luxury and drivability of the Treg!!

I live in Georgia but grew up in Brampton, Ontario Canada.

Since you have both can you give us a Q5 vs Touareg comparison. I have been looking at them as a possible replacement for my 08 Touareg.

The touareg is a larger version of the Q5 and has the same platform as the Audi Q7 and Porche Cayenne. The Q5 is a lot nimble due to it's size. The Q5 acceleration is amazing and handles very very well. It is very stable cornering at high speed and very fun to drive. The touareg is no slouch. It accelerates well and if pushed hard it response with no hesitation. The Treg is also a lot quieter and handles similar to the Q5. It also corners very well but due to the height you sit higher so the Q5 feels more stable. They are both very solid cars and the quality in fit and finish for both are exceptional. My wife drives the Q5 and I drive the Treg.

Due to it's 8 speed transmission, the treg's mileage is phenominal. I had it cruising at 55-60mph for 50 miles and mileage average around 30-32 mpg. At 65-70mph, I average around 26-28 mpg. 70mph and over will average you around 20-23mpg. The Q5 in the highway at varied speeds averages 23-27mpg. In the city the mileage for both very similar averaging 18 -20mpg
