Self Locking Doors

My wife has complained that the doors have been locking without her pushing the button on the key fob. She pulls into a parking space, puts it in part, removes the key. While she is sitting in the car getting her things together and putting up the sun screen, beep and the doors lock. We don't have keyless ignition so that's not the problem. Then the other day I was washing my treg and every now and then I would hear the beep and the doors would lock. Anyone hear of such a problem?

Do you have the buttons on the door handles on the outside? If so you have keyless entry and it may lock. I don't know if you need to have both features together or can have just one or the other. Another possibility is you are hitting the lock button on the remote with out knowing it. I have had the panic alarm go if while I was at work because of carrying the keys in my pocket and just the way I moved hit the button.

I have the keyless entry and when I wash my car with my key in my pocket, I will unlock the car when I touch the handle. It will then relock when the door hasn't been opened within 15 or 30 seconds.

Is it possible that your wife has her doors set for auto-lock when driving. Then when she shuts the car off, they automatically unlock. But since she doesn't open the door because she is doing something inside, they will automatically relock?

No, we don't have keyless entry, so no buttons on the door handle. Spockcat, that's pretty much what happens. Autolock locks the doors when we start moving, but it never used to lock by itself when not in motion.

Hi, I've had similar weirdness with my T2, also without keyless entry.

On several occasions after getting out of the car, the car would lock, literally as if I pressed the lock button.

I read that the crypto used in VW, and other brands using KeyLoq, was cracked, and I thought it may be somebody messing with me by locking the car.

Or it could be a problem with the T2?

Hi all,

I think this is just a safety feature. Try this, hop out of your car and lock it - leave it for a few minutes - come back and unlock car - but dont open any doors - you will find after a minute or so it will lock itself again. A security feature that relocks car if you unlock it but dont use any doors. I also noted the other day that if you unlock tail gate only - open it - and close it - it automatically locks itself.

Cheers

This has been a feature since the beginning. My 04 will do this and does not have the keyless entry. It is just a feature in all of the Tregs.

Yes, I too know for a fact you can do this. I have done it and am thankful my wife had her key with her since we were many miles away from home.

Is there any way to re-program the locks on the Touareg? I have keyless entry which is kind of nice. I'd like to have it so that all the doors and rear hatch are locked or all are UN-locked, period. Can this be done? VAG COM or something?

You can set it in the convience menu for them to all unlock, but that will only work if you use the button on the remote, not the door as far as I know.

Ok, I never messed with it and I just leave it at one door for me. Wife usually has her key with her too so I never have to unlock for her. We just both get in it. :)
