SEIKEL 30MM LIFT FITTED TO R5

I thought I would let everyone know what I have recently been doing.

I purchased the SEIKEL 30mm lift kit from Germany. They were very helpful in getting me the suspension. I had them fitted yesterday. I have only done a short drive in the vehicle but drives very well. A little firmer, but for me I think that is an improvement. I haven't taken if off road yet but the clearances look great.

Previously the standard suspension heights to the arches were:

RHF - 860mm New Seikel Sus RHF - 910mm
LHF - 865mm ..................... LHF - 906mm
RHR - 848mm ..................... RHR - 892mm
LHR - 848mm ..................... LHR - 892mm

This has given me a 44mm lift at the rear. With a full tank of fuel and I have a dual battery with the standard spare wheel still in place.

I am running 245-65-17 tyres. I am soon to change these to 265-65-17 which will give me about 12mm extra lift.

The cost to Coffs Harbour NSW was $ 3, 642.00 Au including freight and taxes. My mechanic installed them for $450 Au, he said that all went well no issues. I gather the fronts will settle a little due to the engine weight over time.

When I get some photos I will post on the site.\\:D/

This has actually been done by another member here with the exact same vehical. AndrieK for SA put one on his R5 and has been using it for awhile. He has been pleased with his as well.

Well done Diesel,
Be interested to know how much the settling in will be and how good the shocks are, what is the warranty? Myself I ,m just flying a pair of new shocks in from Sydney to Alice Springs. I had to come back here as I busted another on of my Bilstein's on some tracks in the centre, grr.

Your Bilstein is kaput..I put a thread up earlier on the Bilsteins (I know you replied). I'll give them a miss as another response was from an owner fitting King springs and Koni's locally and fair value. I still feel inclined to give that a go just to beef up the all-round ride and dampen the lumpy stuff on the dirt. 30mm lift is not going to do it for me; it's not enough. I'd want 75mm min. I'd prefer to plate under, especially the door sills area under body to assist with ramp over scrape.

Markus,

The lift looks great and I owe it to AndrieK letting us know how he was going. So I just bought a set. You ask about the warranty, they have given me a warranty form to fill out and fax back but I need my mechanic to sign it since they only warrant them to the one vehicle. Need to give them my vin number. But I never asked how long the warranty covers I guess 12 mths but I will have to find out. I will keep every one posted how they perform.

Wayne.

PS Yeti, I know someone else has done this suspension AndrieK in South Africa. There hasn't been anyone in Australia to my knowledge. I was informing everyone in Australia about my results and the Cost exactly. It was so easy to import would do it again.

Yeah, sorry for that. I realized I was in the Aussie thread after I posted that. I thought you were bringing it up as a new find. I guess it really was for you guys down under. :)

I think a 30mm lift is better then leaving at standard height especially when the effective lift is 45mm without the bigger tyres and since it is firmer you don't sag.......

I took it 4wding over the weekend and very impressed. Had 4 adults in the car with my full size spare thrown in the back of the vehicle with my recovery gear. We never once looked like we would bottom out where before this was a common occurrence. I would have had about 200kg of weight in total behind the front seats if you said that I had just 2 people in the front.

How about we keep this thread positive about a 30mm lifts since in my experience there has been a lot of talk about lifts but not knowing where to go and how much it would cost.
