You certainly won't damage the car using Tiptronic!

Controlling the gearbox when making progress at speed helps plant the car far better on the road especially setting it up for bends.

It also enables you to plan quick overtakes much better than planting your foot into the floorboards whilst in D.

If you don't drive quickly, don't bother with it.

Now that a buyback is almost 100% certain, my TDI has been in Sport-shift almost all the time now. It has been a hoot and the power and speed have re-impressed me as I don't normally use the S.

I have been using the manual shift too and it too has been fun but S-mode is just as much fun.

Hooray for the buyback!

As my motor/transmission are still tight, it sort of scares me to use the manual-shift, plus, I feel that to hold the gears longer than the torque is good for is a real waste, whereas I think that S-mode keeps the power/transmission right where it needs to be for the best loco-motion.
Funny, how I reply to myself, but that I still think that the motor is still pretty tight now with 57,000 miles on the T3.

S-mode is still a lot better than manually shifting as the transmission just keeps the motor in the sweet spot all the time.

I will miss this motor/tranny combination.
