Does anyone have experience with a remote start on the Treg? The wife wants one, and I am leery of turning the Treg over to the installers, given the elaborate electrical system. And the fact that Tregs are not common in this area. I have seen 8 on the interstate, none around town. What are your thoughts? Thanks

That is what I was wondering. I had the feeling it was not possible. Glad to hear this before I took it to the installers and they chop into the electrical and come back and say it can not be done. Thanks.

It is highly not recommended. This is a short story that I heard from my uncle which is a mechanic at VW. I don't remember all the technical terms that he used as I am not really technical went it comes to engine parts but here it is:

A guy just bought their Toureg and against all recommendations, he went and install a starter with some other shop. One week later, his car didn't even want to start and all four of his wheels was lock. His Treg was towed in to the dealer to have it check.

The shop that install his starter drill into some electric box to bypass some electrical stuff whcih created a big problem. There was many other issues also but I can recall them. The end result for that guy is that his Treg had to be all reprogrammed on top of changing all the parts that was touched by that shop. His final bill was around almost 10K.

So bottom line, do not attempt to do it.

i just installed push button start for my car this weekend and it was difficult but not impossible, check that out, its only five wires to connect under the dash, but after see n all those wires down under, i would never let anyone b sides a vw tech to do electrical work on my egg - evan -
ps- push button was only like 200 dollars or so, cheep and a good option, i never have to take my key outa my pocket anymore, makes getting in and out of the car with a hand full of stuff easy, not if they can only make my house open when you get near the door i would b set.

USA Paypal order form, if this does not work then just search in this forum for the push button start, i know someone else has posted the step by step directions with photos. I have always wired my own stero systems so i know a little about electrical stuff, it took me about three hours, thats only bc my labtop ran out of battries twice and i had to charge it. i would say i could do it in 30 min if the damn wires were not in such a hard place to get to. I had to lay on my back with my head and hands up in the dash with a flash light in my mouth to wire it bc the wires would not extend far enough down, the pics in the directions say that the wires hand to the floor but mine did not. good luck. - evan - oh yeah, the directions, when you come to them are wrong!!! you will see what im talking about, the last two wires are green and white and the directions say hey go in one way, but the picture shows different, you will see what im talkin about once you get there but follow the picture not the directions he gives you, he must have made a mistake.

I would ask them if they ever done one in a Treg before you hand it over. If they have not I would not do it. No one has even attempted to try it as of yet and I am not sure it can even be done.

He can do that if he has keyless entry, but I don't think it will work otherwise. Besides I think they were looking for remote start that turns the car on from the house to warm things up.

Ok i feel i have to chime in on this subject, being a mobile installer certified tech for over 10 years and i own a 06 V8 Touareg myself.
Ok here goes the good and the bad.
Well truth be told yes you can install a remote starter on your touareg. Thats the good.
First your gonna need 2 modules just for the integration & that doesnt include the remote start module. Parts needed ( CAN-SL2 & INT-VW2 )
Ok as a distributor here are the prices i get them for
CAN-SL2 $55.00 this does all the door triggers hood pin arm/disarm door locks etc....
INT-VW2 $550.00 now this is a hefty price tag on this. this is the piece that actually integrates with the ignition system on your T-REG.
on top off all that your gonna need another key.
so you figure for someone like me that has access to this stuff at a discounted price would cost me for everything about $1000.00.
So if you feel you want a remote starter for your Egg that bad then let me know and ill point you in the right direction. i just dont feel like spending $1000.00 for remote starter. good luck and i hope my reply was not only helpful but also informative.

kidd-
hey man, my name is evan hughes and just the other day my car would tell me it was not in park when it realy was and the key would not come out of the ignition also. on top of that the ignition will not turn off and i can not get to the dealership for a few more days. i have been driving it around every once in a while to keep the battery from losing juice. i am asking you bc i recently installed a push button start for my egg by myself. do you think this stuff happening could be bc of the push button start? i would hate for my warranty to be screwed up bc of my self install. i was thinking of taking it out before i went to the dealership. what should i do? - evan -

I took both my wifes passat and my egg in for quotes on remote starters. The egg he said he could try and the passat ended up at almost 400. I decided to cancel on the passat and called my local VW dealer where I get them serviced. My warranties on both the passat and egg would be completely void if I put remote starters in.

I have a 2006 Vw touareg and Im a certified installer - Me and my friend installed a viper 5901 system with remote start into my touareg with no issues. It went very smoothly and gives me no problems. We are starting to do them for other people on the east coast now. Price starts at $1,500 including all parts and labor. PM me for more details and questions

Hey guys, had to register to post this since I figured it was useful info.

I'm a BestBuy MECP Advanced certified install tech and stumbled upon this thread while doing some research into the subject.

I had a 2009 Touareg for a Viper4204 remote start today. It took literally like all day, and getting to one pesky wire required removal of the wipers/cowl panel (which ate up a good chunk of the time)... but in the end everything worked great; no warning lights, no electrical gremlins.

Of course the install requires the owner to loose a key that gets buried under the dash (wrap-a-key method as installers say), but there's no other huge costs associated with it. Cost to the client is around $550+tax for the viper 2 way remote starter I listed.

If anyone ever has questions or anything feel free to contact me. I'm in the great state of Wisconsin, but I'm networked with tons of people across the nation, I can refer to someone who can do a quality job. Gimme a hollar at 715-343-7300.

Hope that wasn't too business-y... it wasn't supposed to be, but I think it came off that way. Anywho, cheers, glad I could have the pleasure to work on this darn VW/Porsche monster... and I thought the Audi Q7 was a bugger of an install ;)

I think you have posted to the wrong thread. This is about a remote starter and not keyless entry or KESSY for that matter. I can't tell what you want to retrofit....never heard of "keykess".

Also, your english is very difficult to follow...

My advice to you...
Do some more work on the english translation and start a new thread before posting...

If you look at the typos, he's hit the key next to the intended letter!

So keyKess is keyless and absoluRely is absolutely.

But he still needs to explain what keyless function he wants!
