Woodland Park, Colorado

Ships Free to lower 48.

I have a side business rebuilding differentials on the Touareg, Q7 and Cayenne. I sell these on Ebay and through my website www.thediffman.com, but want to get it out directly to Treg people. Everything ships free to the lower 48. Current price is $760 for a rebuild.

These all have new carrier and pinion bearings, preload set to 10" lbs for 2011+ and 18" lbs for 2003-2010. Backlash set between .004 and .006. All new seals, cleaned and ready to go. I have sold/rebuilt dozens of these with no issue. I use Koyo carriers, INA or Timken pinions and Cortecto or OEM seals.

Turnaround is 2-3 days. Shipping to me is your responsibility, but price does include return UPS ground shipping to lower 48. Message me for details!

Sorry not looking for cores at the moment. Don't have the space! It things change I'll let you know. Might try tossing it on Ebay, shipping is usually about 60-80 bucks through UPS with the Ebay discount label.

I have a side business rebuilding differentials on the Touareg, Q7 and Cayenne. I sell these on Ebay, but want to get it out directly to Treg people as well for a little discount to the buyer. Everything ships free to the lower 48.

These all have new carrier and pinion bearings, preload set to 29" lbs & backlash set between .004 and .006. All new seals, cleaned and ready to go. I have sold/rebuilt dozens of these with no issue. You can see my ebay listing under "the_diffman". I use Koyo carriers, INA or Timken pinions and Cortecto or OEM seals. Kinda depends what's in stock, they are all good.

Two I have in stock now:

1) 2007-2010 Q7 Differential. I believe this fits 2007-2010 Toureg gas models as well. Fits 3.6L models on the Q7. NO AXLES INCLUDED, you must reuse yours. These don't break nearly as much as the 03-06 and 2011-2017. So it's cheaper. They are more robust than the newer generation. Sorry no core discount, these are hard to sell because they don't break much! $600.

1) 2011-2017, 3.7 ratio differential. Axle code is QAM, MUU, MUM, MES. Fits all North American models, Non TDI (3.0L) & Non Hybrid. This one does come complete with axles. Will take $100 off for a core charge if you send me yours. $850.

I also can rebuild yours for $650. Turnaround is 2-3 days. Shipping to me is your responsability, but price does include return UPS ground shipping to lower 48. Message me for details!
What kind of warranty do you provide on them?

FYI, Morgan just rebuilt the front diff for my 2012 TDI. I couldn't be happier with the quality, service and communication. He sent me photos of the internals after tearing it down and explained the process for setting preload, etc. This service with a warranty is a bargain compared to the other rebuilders or the hard to find used diesel units on ebay. The work to remove and replace the diff isn't terrible but not a walk in the park without a lift either. You might as well put a nicely priced rebuilt unit in so you don't have to be the test pig for some used part. I highly recommend.

Thanks @20bugsys. I really appreciate your positive feedback! If you are questioning this process you can find me on Instagram and Youtube under "The_Diffman", full transparency. I can do your rear differential as well, they just don't seem to break 😜

I have a 2003-2010 that was a core I am about to finish a rebuild on. Standard ratio 4.56 Gen 1 and 2. I'll get it up for sale when it's done. Happy Tregging

Can you change gear ratio while you're doing the rebuild?

Any are the rear differentials the same physical size for all the years of the Touareg's, or did they change for the different models?

I can only confirm in NA, the rest of the world might be different. Gear ratio can be changed if correct ring/pinion are supplied, but to my knowledge they do not make any aftermarket sets. Best option would be to find a matching set (front/rear) with the ratio you desire. If you are looking for a larger selection, the Cayenne has ranges from 3.7-2.58. Touareg and Q7 only run 3.27 or 3.7. This all depends on year, I see you run a 2014 so you would be 2011-2018.

The rear differential is the same case size for the 2002-2010; then the 2011-2018 in all Touareg and ditto for the Q7 and Cayenne. The major change came in 2011 for all three models. The Cayenne sometimes uses a variable locking rear differential which is not compatible, but that depends on the cayenne the differential came from.

This is my findings having worked on these, but I'm always finding out new things and my information may not be correct. I am always surprised by the Cayenne differences.

Bumping up. I've rebuilt over 100 of these by now! Mostly 2011+. Hit my website for some more info on this. Current rebuild rate is $759.99 w/free return shipping. I have some differentials in stock, they go quick, but I get cores in from time to time. 3.27 ratio for diesel/hybrid and 3.7 ratio for gas.

Unpaid endorsement! After 12,000 miles, I opened my front diff up a few days ago to check/drain/change the oil on the 12 month anniversary of my diffman rebuild. It was clean, clear, no metal, no issues whatsoever. I am very happy with the quality. Mine was making a lot of noise and had a fair bit of metal in the oil before I sent it off to him.
