Hi
I found that my rear glass lid doesn’t stay open when I open it. I assume that the air shock that keeps it up is properly faulty. How do I going by replacing it myself because it think asking the VW dealership for a OEM part and replacing it will be very expensive exercise.
Did anyone replace it yourself and is it very difficult to do.
Thanks
Cheers

There is a how to in the DIY section...you need to replace both the hatch struts and the glass struts, cost is around $70 for the 4 struts you need to replace.

If it's only the rear glass window and not the whole tialgate that's dropping, surely you only need to replace the two small window struts?

If you want the dealer to do the main taligate struts, its about $600.

you really do need to replace both..besides by the time you've done all the work and taken the time to access them, you've done 95% of the work. They sit side by side literally less than 1/2" apart so you'd have to work around one to replace the other.

You'll hate your life after doing the job so while you're at it, spend the extra 35 bucks and replace the set of 4.
