C-ya so I welded the new flex pipe (had it welded ) put the cat back in and the delete pipes ! Now I’m about ready to tune ! I need your advice ! Can I drive the truck around the block before I tune it ? This will for sure give me codes which I can erase ! Because I don’t have internet where the car is parked ! Also I have this one connector that I can’t find where it plugs into ! It’s the last one on the bottom of the cat pipe ! I connected the O2 on the top there’s another one next to it ! Also connected then the other one is the box at front of car ! But there is this other one ! Did that plug near the dof ? Do I just tape it ?
Ok I found it ! It goes by the big O2 sensor please let me know if I can drive a block like this before I upload the tune

I would think you could drive around the block. It may put you in a severe limp mode or it may not. Either way, you should be able to make it. That's my take on it, but I'm not an expert on how long it can go with nothing responding like it should before the computer throws in the towel and quits playing.

What does the Internet have to do with it? Technically you could drive around the block. I personally wouldn't even start it.

I keep reading this, over and over.... and I just don't get it.
Can someone explain it to me? What's the problem? 🤷‍♂️
I'm of no assistance ^

I’ll explain it to you , I installed the delete pipes and the cat , connected it all , BUT the truck is a block away (I am in NYC ) from my WI-FI, I need WI-FI , to download the tunes into the tunezilla pro and then upload it into the truck, as far as I was told by tunezilla it cannot be done without WiFi , so I was asking C-Ya since he did the delete, if I am able to start and drive the truck around the block to where my WiFi is, would this cause either damage or put the truck in limp mode ? Then if it goes to limp mode , does that mean I’m screwed ? I don’t know what exactly you were unclear about (I’m genuinely asking ) basically can I drive the F…ing truck around the block after I cut everything out of it before I tune it ? It’s that simple of a question

Before you try to drive it, have you gone to a place with WiFi to download the tune into your computer and then tried to flash the ECU? I was in my garage, and I didn't turn the WiFi off, so I'm not sure if it actually needs the Internet.

I'm unclear about what I asked.

Is the tunezilla attached to your truck? It's a stand alone device. Take it in your hands and go find WiFi if you have some cheap ass phone from the 90s and no data plan and you can't possibly hotspot off your cell phone like the rest of us modern cell phone users.
Then, after you've downloaded your tune or whatever you need WiFi for, come back and plug it into your deleted truck so you can brick it or whatever it is you're trying to do for the last month or however long this circus has been going on.

Or is this the first time you hear of "hotspot"? Genuinely asking... for a friend.

I'm curious why the **** you didn't do all this before you went to somewhere you can't access Wi-Fi?

As has been stated, you should not drive it. You already made the noob mistake of not having the tuner ready before you started all this and not flashing it prior to deleting. I would drive more than a block.

I was going to suggest that also but don't want to overwhelm him with complicated ideas

I think this is 100% the best idea. Have it preloaded on your computer.

Thanks C-Ya turns out what I am doing is, getting the laptop using a hotspot from the phone for WiFi and doing it at the trucks location, because you would think that it could be downloaded remotely but it cannot ! While it’s downloading the tunes from the portal site ! The first thing it asks is to make sure your car battery is charged and supplemented ! And then plug to your car OBD to read your ECU ! So I don’t want to attempt to drive the car even for a block (I did that once on another diesel truck and let’s just say it was not fun and turned out to be a nightmare ! So I am going to leave the f…ing truck where it’s at ! And use the hotspot ! If I was back in South Dakota this would not be an issue but in NYC where my parking lot is ! There is no WiFi

Dude you need to chill out and dial back the attitude ! Is there something wrong with you ? I am not even going to defend what I know and what I have because it’s f…ing ridiculous did you miss the part where you cannot download the tunes into the tune I’ll pro and then install them in the car ! It needs to happen all together ! And wtf do you think I do t know what a hotspot is ? I was just hoping to do it where my WiFi is ! The way you say it it cannot be done ! So hotspot it is !

Some of you guys talk a lot of **** , I’m at the point where being nice is fading ! Easy to talk like this on computer ! Educate yourself ! YOU CANNOT DOWNLOAD REMOTELY ! Must be with the car ! I’m done with some of you clowns

You're not the only person to ever tune a car. You do the leg work before you start including the flashing. You don't need to be connected to Internet once the handheld has the data uploaded to it.

None of us here work for Malone Tuning.

From the Malone Tuning website:

FlashZilla Pro connects directly to InstaTune through the TuneZilla Portal app and allows users to search for compatible tunes from our extensive tune library. If you don't see a tune that works for your setup, you can request a custom tune right from the Tuning Portal. The FlashZilla Pro tool is not VIN locked, so you can use it to read and write multiple ECUs. You can even manage your tune library and organize the tunes you've downloaded, making it easy to select and flash the appropriate tune file for your desired fuel octanes or driving styles, such as Low Boost, and High Boost files, or 91 Octane and 93 Octane files.

  • All ECU / TCUs should be returned to stock / factory software before flashing with FlashZilla Pro.
  • FlashZilla Pro tool requires an Windows computer* to install and operate the TuneZilla Portal App
    * At this time, only Windows 10 or 11 computers with x86-/x64-based processors are supported
  • The TuneZilla Portal App supports offline flashing for tunes that are already downloaded to your tune library.

Have you downloaded the Tunzilla portal app onto your computer? Have you went thru the process of buying the tune? Once you buy it- then what? Was there a download button? From what I highlighted above in red it leads me to believe that you can download your file onto your computer and then just walk out to your car with your laptop and the flashzilla Pro and do it.

If it doesn't work, quote what they said on their own website and ask them how can I do this offline becuase the hardware portion is already done.

My IQ is dropping at an alarming rate with all the spoon feeding going on around here... If I recall, a "tune" is somewhere around 2MB or so as it's only a hex file, so this whole "problem" is such a joke

Thank you, I was simply asking as usually someone on these forums might have done it and can relate the experience, I did email them, they don’t have a number to call for technical help, takes 24 hours for a reply, they said you need the car hooked up to read the ECU, while on wifi, so anyways at the end , I used the hotspot ,and tuned it, it’s done, also, I ended up getting my other car to use jumper cables, because I didn’t want to mess with pulling radiator fuse, thank you for all the info you provided,

You must be in real problem, since you don’t seem to have much of one in the first place, I specifically asked c-ya for his advice since he did it, you chimed in,so know your place next time, what was the problem again? And who asked you ? You know what… I’m good, I won’t even add anything , I’ll just let it go, because these forums always have some smart ass that thinks he owns the last word, and knows it all, the whole point of a forum is to get information from people that have gone thru it and are willing to share their experience, not someone that goes out of their way to do the opposite, not that I have to add this part, but I will, the reason the hotspot was an issue is because I am in nyc , the truck is in an underground parking warehouse, where as you can guess there is no cell service, like in the subway, so I was trying to avoid that , but I ended up giving the attendant 20$ to let me use his wifi , and then I was able to connect , it’s not because I don’t know what the f isa hotspot , and I drove a truck before tuning, and will not do it again, hence why I asked, I asked here to get feedback on people’s experience not do deal with P..y ass bit..es ..
