Bought this beauty secondhand in July 2022 with 200,000 km on it (about 125,000 miles). Has a new Bosch battery, installed Nov. 2022, still under warranty.

There is a drain on the battery that we haven't found despite all kinds of tests. Everything on it is electronic. Even when every available switch is turned off, if I leave it for more than about 6 days without driving it, it is completely dead.

Saw suggestion of kill switch on one of the forum threads, so bought a Chinese switch in US. My mechanic here took it to an electrician yesterday who told him (if I understood all this correctly in Arabic over the phone) that it can't be installed without causing problems to the starter "because it's an automatic." He said that the battery is charging adequately when the car runs and it's starting just fine, so I can just come and get it. Hope to get a better explanation when I go to pick it up today.

Does it sounds reasonable that simply installing an on/off switch would cause problems with the ignition? If so, why, and is there anything that can be done to prevent that?
