Hi All --- Just being a little curious...and thought it would be a nice tread...

What did you drive before the Touareg came out? And have you always been into Modding cars?

I owned throughout my life:

- 81 Bonnaville Broughm (Diesel)
- 83 Cutless Supreme
- 87 Monte Carlo LS (every kid from Brooklyn owned one at one time ro another)
- 2000 4Runner Limited
- 2003 4Runner Limited (V8)
- 2004 Touareg (V8, Air Suspension, Nav)

Have i ever Moded a car before? No .. I have toyed around with the Stereos on a few of my cars...and even replaced the exhaust system on my Cutlass (the pipes then were touching the gas tank straps and the tank almost fell out after 1 month). lol I have almost a full mechanic garage (uncle was a mechanic) -- but no time to experiment.

Most off roading I have done was bringing my dog to an outside Dog Show (they are in parks and you must drive on grass)! THOUGH I hope to try it eventually -- Damn shame to only toy with the Car's cpability when it Snows.

That is my peice of fluff for the Day.

WOW Some of you have had alot of cars! (Especially Shaka -- I am 31--u more than double me! Insurance companies must LOVE you lol )

It is strange how my wife call the my past cars by the color "Oh the silver one" and guys can recite year and Trim like it was naming kids.

#8 ·
My previous are:

1972 Jeep Commando (flipped it and sold it to a coffee farm in Hawaii)
1979 Dodge station wagon (Canary Yellow with wood trim, ugly as sin but an excellent beach vehicle)
1989 Jeeg Wrangler
1998 Civic EX
2002 Jetta GLI (this one was fun driving)

No modding done on any of them really. My favorite are/were my Touareg and the Commando because they've both proved themselves as go anywhere I want to go vehicles. The only downfall on the Commando was the stereo was a boom box stuffed under the driver's seat and I couldn't hear it when I drove over 45mph but only 3 roads had speed limits that allowed that so that wasn't too bad. :)

As a car crazy female, I've owned many and reminiscing over the past makes me realize how much precious time has gone by......

'67 Cutlass 442 (orig. owner, collector's item for sure...shoulda kept it)
'71 'Vette (454ci 4sp, t-tops, sold 3 yrs later with 9k orig. miles, shoulda kept that one too!) Best car I ever owned.
'73 Grand Am
'85 Bronco XLT, just sold it last year with 72k orig. miles, all customized
'89 Lincoln Continental - it lived long enough for my kids to drive and kill
'94 Grand Am - problem free for me until my kids killed this one too!
'00 Jetta GLX - never any problems in 4 yrs.
'01 Cabrio GLX and bought back by VW
'02 Cabrio GLX, my replacement from VW - daughter borrowed it, had a parents' nightmare of an accident, the cabin of that Cabby saved her life!
'03 Pathfinder (problem free)
'04 Touareg - bought in Oct 03 and first one on Staten Island, never saw another red one here again.
'05 Escape XLT (no problems ever)
And a few others that were strictly "parking lot" cars.

Currently have:

'05 BMW X5 - no problems so far, very reliable
'06 H3 - fun car, no pickup, gas eater
'06 Touareg - favorite SUV but the Bronco had many memories attached to it and will always have a softspot in my heart.

OK, here goes:

-1988 Chevy Cavalier Z24 (first car, bought used in 94 with 126k miles. Traded in in 2000 at 184,000 miles, no real problems along the way! Had KYB struts/shocks, poly bushings, handled great. Little V6 was a blast, even with the 3-speed slushbox)

-1995 Pontiac Trans Am (6-speed, T-tops. Bought in 2000, less than 10k miles on the car. After many expensive problems (and $3000/year insurance in Vegas) traded it in at 22k miles after 11 months)

-2000 GMC Sonoma (sport suspension, 4cyl/5-speed dog. Bought new in 2001. Needed a truck to haul the dirtbike with (new hobby back then), and wanted less insurance than the T/A. A few problems, but overall not bad at all. Sold after buying the Touareg last year)

-2005 VW Touareg (Need I say more?)

Bikes:

1995 Kawasaki KX125 (first motorcycle ever, bought used in 2001. Still have it)

1990 Yamaha YX600 Radian (inline-4 standard. My first streetbike, bought used in 2002 for $900. Sold in 2003 for $1300)

2001 Suzuki SV650S (sporty little v-twin. Bought with 4k miles in 2003. Added a GSXR adjustable rear shock. My current on-road gas saver at 43mpg for commuting. A bit less when out to play :joy:

1999 Yamaha YZ400F (my current dirtbike of choice. Ol' reliable!! Bought used from a riding buddy in 2004)

IrBrenda -- you KNOW your Vehicles! Great Selection!

A Cutlass 442! Wow. Back when the Car's CPU was a Carburator (4 barrel for that car)!

If you see a Blue Silver V8 on the Road with a Club Touareg sticker on the back -- honk!!

I am amazed at all the cars (and Bikes) people have had!

Let's add a few:

Bought my first car in 2000, got along just fine with a 600 cc Bandit before...

1996 Ford Mustang
2000 VW Golf 1.6
2003 VW Golf TDi, the one that got 130 hp out of the 1.9 diesel
2004 VW Touareg V6 (traded)
2004 VW Touareg V8 (buyback)
2006 VW Touareg V8
2006 F-350 (For work)

Both Golfs were in Germany. Little brother is taking care of the TDi and enjoying 50 mpg, but he also mentioned diesel is about $6.50 at home :-( I guess my V8 will be traded pretty quick once I move back.

Alright, I guess I will participate as well. Not that it probably matters but I will start out that I am 39.

First'

78 Subaru Brat- No mods but beat the hell out of that thing!!
87 Escort GT- First new car. Mods were only a high flow airfilter.
88 Escort GT- Replacement for above since I had the 87 in so many accidents!!
91 Thunderbird SC 5spd- Second brand new car and I ordered this one. Mods consisted of a filter and overdrive pulley for the blower as well as a custom stereo. I miss that car!!
88 Bronco ll- winter car for when I owned the T-bird.
91 Explorer XLT- Needed more room then what the Bronco could provide.
96 Explorer Limited V6- Second owner on it and still is sitting in my garage. Been reliable as hell for me.
98 Lincoln Navigator- Even more room and wanted something with more towing power for toys, which I never did get.
01 Lincoln Navigator- Bought this to get the higher HP motor but ended up suckin a lot of gas. Loved it but when gas prices went up, it had to go!!
04 Touareg V6- bought it used and has been good to me so far and I love it!!

That is it for me for now. I would love to buy another Treg to replace my Explorer but it is paid for and not givin me any issues.
