Been reading these forums since I got my Treg back in March this year, but I hadn't gotten around to posting this....

Anyway I live in South FL and down here MOST of the roads have a slight to moderate slant to the right. A 'crown' in the roadway. When it was brand-new it pulled HARD to the right. So we took it in, they 'aligned' it and it was a slight bit better, but it still pulled. Another trip to the dealer, same result except they refused to look at the problem altogether saying it was because of the crown of the road and there was nothing they could do.

I call VWoA, they schedule me with the head honcho service guy of my dealership (Gerald at Gunther VW in Ft. Lauderdale, FL). This guys says he had a Touareg as well and it did the same thing. Long story short he sends it in, they 'align' it again, I get it back and it still does the same thing. I took it back again they said there was nothing they could do. So I demanded to drive a new one to see if it did it. And I'll be damned if it didn't pull to the right as well...

So as I sit here with the 'Lemon Law' form in my hand... Has anyone else had this problem with the Treg pulling towards the slant in the road? Gerald says up north the roads tilt left and people complain they pull left up there. And if anyone's had this problem fixed, please please post it here so I can advise my dealership.

I'm tired of keeping the wheel turned to the left to go STRAIGHT down the road...

I can confim it

Yes, I have the same problem and have heard the same excuse. But I don't buy it. I have driven 4 different TRegs that the dealer has. Only one of them had the same indications. It was a very early VIN an could have been one of the trucks that came out of the factory misaligned. The crown of the road is what all service departments use on the east coast.

According to the service records, my Treg has had 4 alignments. I have the output from the last two. Both times both the toe and camber were out by about 4 degrees. I have not driven the car that hard nor are the roads that bad to warrant the alignement to get out of wack that quickly.

Right now, even on the occasion it tracks straight, the steering wheel is about 3 or 4 degrees to the left. It's been that way since I got the truck. I firmly believe that there is something bent, broken, etc that the dealer (and the factory rep for this area) has not been able to find.

Mine has been pulling to the right for several months out here in CA. It does not matter if the road is crowned or flat, there is still a pull to the right. I have not gotten it aligned and I have not taken the Treg off-road yet either. The dealer wants to charge me for the alignment, I may pay the first time, but definately not two times in a row or more.

mine pulls slightly to the right, always has. no wear on the tires that i can tell. i am going in for my 5000 mile service soon and will address it with them then, along w/ the remotre range (AGAIN).

We have a V8 one month old. It pulls to the right, we have to steer left to go straight. Had it in twice. Now we steer straight but with a left pressure bias to make it go straight. Can't be the road crown because none of our other cars has to be steered left to go straight.

I talked with the service manager yesterday and he said that they pull right because the car is all whell drive and has large tires(this is the BS that VWoA is feeding the dealers in their training). I don't buy that as I had a 2001 S4 previously and it was all wheel drive and had wide tires and went straight as an arrow.

Pulling to the right

I purchased my Touareg in March. The dealership has aligned it twice and once at NTB. Still pulls to the right. The dealer told me yesterday that they will cross rotate the tires next week. I believe VW has too many problems with the Touareg.

Has anyone seen anything regarding a class action lawsuit?

Pulling to right

Just left mine at the dealer today for vibration/tire problems and a few other minor issues and discussed this problem with the service manager. He told me it was normal, but on the way out I spoke to a couple service techs that overheard our conversation and they informed me that is NOT normal and that they spend a good amount of time attempting to fix this problem on other Tregs. Makes you wonder who's telling the truth. I guess I'll be calling the service manager tomorrow to add this to my list.

When you guys got your alignments done, you may have received a sheet with the before and after values. If not, then you should request one if you get it aligned again.

Here are the Alignement Specs - graciously hosted by spockcat.

Compare these specs with the printout from your most recent alignment, to see that they have done it correctly.

Now are those values only for the air suspension Touaregs or for both steel/air V-6, V-8 and V-10 Touaregs?

The pdf pretty clearly states Air Suspension - I presume for all V6/V8/V10. I would guess the Steel Suspension specs are available somewhere - perhaps the Hunter web site (Hunter makes the alignement machine).

Oh, the specs are probably in the Bentley manual as well, but I haven't looked.

By the way I have a V-6 with steel spring suspension, not air.

Also, I have a digital tire pressure gauge and I've tried everything but setting different pressures in the front tires.

According to the manual (and the sticker on the driver's side door) the front and rear tires are at different pressures. I might also try to get the pressures a little closer to each other and see what happens...

Gimme a few days to do this and I'll post my findings
