Sorry if this is not the right forum (since it says exterior mods), but there is not one for interior mods and I do plan on doing a few changes to the exterior.
Anyway, with the disclaimer out of the way, I dabble, in carbon fiber. I have done as side projects more than 2 dozen cars now. When I bought my T-Reg a few months ago, I thought it screamed CF for the interior, especially with the nice aluminum trim surrounding the wood trim. So I decided to do what I always do to my vehicles...add real CF trim to the inside. I read a lot about how to take the trim pieces out and to be honest it wasn't as hard as I was expecting or read about, but was still way more difficult than any other vehicle I have owned.
I just love the look of CF and the depth it brings to the interior and I feel it is a lot more luxurious than wood trim. I usually use a 2x2 twill on my car, but this time I wanted to do something different...a 1x1 plain weave. Here are examples of each if you are not sure what is what.
Sorry for the bad pics...all of these pics were taken with a bad cell phone (my wife has our good Camera out of town)
I started with the center console pieces, 4 in total, ashtray cover, gear shift trim, cup holder trim, and my favorite piece the gear shift select knob trim. Here are some in progress pics as I was doing them and a few finished pics before reinstall in the T-Reg. I love the 1x1 look on this vehicle. Let me know what you think, good bad or indifferent. Hope you enjoy...
door and dash pieces with the CF cut to size for each piece
door and dash pieces after 1 coat of resin and excess CF trimmed to size...putting 2nd coat on today.
very blury pic of the rear vent trim
finished ashtray cover putting the silver trim back on as I type this
finished gear shift bezel
finished cup holder bezel
And lastly the gear shift selector small trim piece (worst picture ever!)
The best picture is of the ashtray cover since I took it outside with natural sunlight...it is showing the reflectiveness of the CF best. Hope you enjoyed...thanks for looking
