Thanks for spreading the word. Over 50 highway miles since the re-torque today and still rock solid at 65mph and above.

The poll process does leave a little to be desired. It seems to be designed for yes/no surveys.

The torque of 133lbs (per manual) is a interesting fix. I wonder if it's improper sequence of tightening or the amount of torque? There were 7 with the vibration while 22 responded no issue. If this truly is the resolution did VW have a manufacturing quality issue for a few days?

Stranger things have happened in the auto industry. I remember Dave McLellan speaking to us Corvette guys a few years ago at a conference in Bowling Green KY. He was telling the story about the very first run of the original ZR1 cars, and how the engines were damaged when received by dealers and customers. Turned out to be a lady working at the factory who would floor the accelerator when starting the cars to load them on the transport trucks. Anything is possible.

I voted based from my 2011 TDI sport... 13,500 miles without any vibration issues. However, it seemed that it resolved itself, ~10,000 miles ago I had some 'humming' on several occasions just from that initial forward 'roll' of the T'reg (from reverse) with the steering wheel turned to left. IIRC the humming noise was with some vibration but, only when the engine has not yet reached normal temp. I do let it run for ~5 - 10 minutes before driving.

You shouldn't - it is bad for the engine. You should start and drive straight off.

The reason being that the idling delays engine warm-up...
That is true...

But...

More technically, allowing an engine to idle for at least 90 secs after initial start - particularly after an overnight 'cold rest' - before any additional throttle application is CRUCIAL to allow oil temperature to rise and full-flow oil lubrication throughout the entire engine oiling circuit.

In sports car Porsche race engines, we install an electrically-operated and heated oil pressure accumulator system to retain operational engine oil pressure to ensure full engine lubrication immediately after restart from any shut down - like a pit stop. The oil pressure accumulator retains engine oil pressure and helps reduce internal friction wear - particularly on top end engine components like camshaft lobes that are the last to see full-pressure / full-temp engine oil lubrication.

These chaps offer a similar oil pressure accumulator - though not heated - for street applications that cost about US$250 -

Insta-Lube Oil Accumulator

Legendary speed part vendor Moroso also offers an oil pressure accumulator kit, although not as sophisticated design and operation -

No vibrations in my 2012 TDI with either:
Pikes Peak 20" rims with Goodyear Eagle LS2s or
Tacora 18" rims with Pirelli ice and snow

At what speed or what rpm do you usually feel the vibration? through steering wheel or other places?
I have a 12 TDI Lux with 8000~miles (bought a CPO). I can feel the vibration through the floor only at city speed around 1400 rpm when I step firm on the pedal.

You need to at least get the problem registered in case it gets worse.

No vibrations in my 2012 TDI exec with 23K with either of the following:
OEM Pikes Peak 20" rims with Goodyear Eagle LS2s or Winter 19" rims with Pirelli ice and snow tires. The steering started to pull to the right at 21K, but after an alignment, that was fixed. It's turbine smooth.
