Not saying that -- just refelecting what the sales told me ---- I am happy to accept minor differences but just trying to get some evidence of what the actual penalty is ...Unfortunately I no longer have the PR codes for the 2013 version ( Thats the one that ran away from me - so I dumped all the stuff on it when it was written off.)

So isn't your "validation" attempt poor at best? I don't know the answer to your question, but I don't think you've given this much thought when saying "it's the same vehicle".
I mean, without having the exact same features (are the base curb weights even the same?), controllers, options, rims, etc. (2 zone ac vs 4 zone, vented seats, number of cameras, etc.), how are you assuming that the only difference between the two specimens is the glass roof (within a 70kg tolerance)

I am not the only one and probably not the first to seek clarification on the matter and it is a consideration when towing.

Don't think there's much differences between the two, though popular non factual 'opinion' is that Pano glass is heavier than the panels that go in instead - yes, there are two reinforcement panels that are installed /part of the roof where the vehicle doesn't have a Pano roof, so theres merit in what the person is telling you.

Another thing to remember is that the extra weight of the roof is spread over both front and rear axles.

 

Based on weighing my V6 TDI fitted with pano roof compared to the advertised tare weight
Full of fuel and towbar package fitted and driver assist package as the only ther options
All up weight 2300kg
Less 90 litres fuel -76.5kg 10 litres incl in tare weight
Towbar package est -30kg
Driver assist package est - 5 kg (mainly just sensors/ electrics)
So weight after taking off options and fuel 2188.5kg
Advertised tare of 2159kg leaves 29/30kg for the pano roof
Given that 6mm glass weighs 15kg/sq metre and the glass size is 1.5 sq metre is 22.5kg it sounds about right 30kg
