Hi all,

I am a long time VW fan. My dad bought a 1999 passat and since then I've been hooked. I've owned a GTI, Rabbit, Jetta, Tiguan and passats. My brother had a TDI golf for a bit, before the high pressure fuel system failed and he bailed after that. My sister and brother in law have a Golf All track and GTI. Anyways, I love the brand. They've definitely made mistakes (can't believe the TDI scandal) but I still love the cars they make. I did own a 06 330i for a minute and currently have a 97 boxster to satisfy my sports car needs.

Anyways, about my Touareg. I bought a 2011 V6 sport, in black, with about 75k on it. I am shocked at how much I love it. I've always been a wagons/hatchback are better than SUV's guy but this truck just brings a smile to my face every time I get in. My wife loved the Tiguan we had and wanted another but after getting this, she agrees, its just a great truck.

I love how quiet it is inside, how powerful it feels when driving it and how secure while driving in bad weather. I was out and about during the storm that hit NY a few months back that caught everyone of guard. My rear tires are fairly low compared to the fronts but the car didn't slide except for one time, but that was my fault. I'm a cali boy (30 years) and moved to NY just over a year ago so driving in snow is very new to me.

The interior also feels so modern for an 8 year old car. The large LCD display in the gauge cluster and the RNS850 screen make the car feel like its newer than it is. And its a simple but easy to use design. Just fantastic.

I appreciate all the comments and threads in this forum. Its seems to be a great resource for DIY'ers. Looking forward to many years with this truck.

Hopefully you have replaced those rear tires!

But NOTE that Touaregs MUST run with 4 IDENTICAL tires to avoid transmission damage due to wind up.

That's same size, same make, same model, same tread pattern and no more than 3mm / 3/32ths tread depth difference between front and rear axles and no more than 2mm / 2/32ths difference on the same axle.

I was wondering. I couldn’t find any info about that in the manual except to always replace both on the same axle. And I bought from a VW dealer who just replaced the fronts.

Yeah I’m planning to replace shortly. Thanks for the tip!
