Oil level warning light -Grrrrr

Hi folks ,
From the title this might seem like another issue where someone says ....do a search .
Believe me i have ....for months.

We have two Tregs ... Mine is a 2008 2.5 Diesel ... My daughter has a 2007 3ltr V6 .
Both are in great condition ... treated like spoiled children and given the best of oil , filters and regularly serviced.

For a while now ...both have been having the yellow oil can warning ( low oil level ) on the dash.
Neither have any oil loss ... on level ground they both have the correct oil level.
We have changed the oil level sensors , the oil pressure sensors and although it sounded silly .. the hood latch and switch.
I have checked both with VCDS .. neither shows any codes .

If I open the hood with the ignition on ...wait 30 seconds ... close it again ... and then start the engine the light will go away for sometimes a week ...sometimes a day or so.

I'm pretty much out of ideas here ...

Since it seems to be a common issue right across the VW product range ( I have been searching a lot ) ... I can only guess that it might be some sort of ecu based software glitch that throws a false warning .

Does anyone have any ideas....or know a way to disable the sensor via VCDS . its not needed anyway as I always and regularly check oil levels with the dip stick ..rather than relying on a sensor on the dash ..

Please help ...at my wits end here .. 😧

Yeah I'm going to guess something with the wiring as above. Can you check and make sure the voltage is correct via vcds? A bad wire or corrosion in the connector may be causing the value to drop out of range and trip the light.

Mileages .... Mine 2.5 about 145,000 miles ... Hers 3.0 around 90,000
The warning displays "Check oil level " then just flashes a yellow oil can every 10 seconds or so ..
both have the correct amount of Castrol edge 5-30 oil.

The Battery in the 3.0 is about 6 months old ...
the battery in the 2.5 about a year old ... voltages are good on both .

I examined the connectors on both , changed the bonnet / hood latches and switches ...no corrosion or flaky looking / damaged wires to the sensors which have also been replaced with new ones.
.
Just seems weird that both initially began to do this within 2 weeks of each other ...

I know this is old, but, for anyone moving forward.. disabling your oil light vs fixing it properly is ****ing retarded.

To be fair, it's not an oil sensor.. it's a hood latch sensor..stupid fn sensor and so unnecessary if you ask me. The ECU bases if it's had an oil change or not by if the hood has been open or not. If it can't recognize that the hood has been open it won't disable the add oil light.

Where is this hood latch sensor located?

Do you have a manual oil dip stick? Best way to see the truth. I didn't have one and on a grip got the same warning. Picked up a quart of proper oil put !/2 a quart in and the light went out so it wasn't the actual oil level that was wrong. Didn't happen again. I have no idea about the issue, but got a dip stick just to check. The 2012 TDI had 50,000 miles .
