Oil Change Capacity Question

Hi,
Decided to do our first DIY oil change on our 2012 Touareg after taking it to a local shop several times prior. All went fine basically. But now after adding 8 liters of oil, putting everything back together and running the car, it shows the bars completely full on the oil level screen. My husband is concerned that this means it is too full. We had read that is something to avoid! We are aware that the car holds 8.3 liters in capacity (7.7 liters for 2013-2016). Should he try to drop some oil to avoid an overfill? Would love advice from someone who does this regularly and can comment on how much oil they typically use. TIA!

You’re fine. If the level is too high the screen will indicate as such.

BTW you didn’t mention which engine.

I've read this 5 times and I still have no idea how to translate this statement.
Wouldn't it be easier to do one of the two?
1- Refill (w/filter change) according to the service manual.
2- Measure what came out and refill with the same amount. Add as necessary to allow for amount extra from changing filter.
Also, isn't each line on the "Digital Dipstick" equal to ~ 100ml?
