Hey all,

My commute to Denver is miserable in a Hemi Grand Cherokee and my BMW gets tiring with a manual in rush hour traffic. Girlfriend and I fell in love with Touareg TDI's after test driving one. Ended up buying two on the same day. Right at 100k miles with the full extent of the 4/48k emission warranties. The black one (mine) is an Executive, and the lady's is the white one (Lux with sport 18's). Got a package deal and both were $14k o.t.d.(each). Her 2nd TDI, first was a Jetta that went through buy back, this is my first rodeo.

What do you think?

Do you guys wear matching tracksuits?

Jokes aside, sweet rides. How do you decide which one to take?

My wife and I did this with B6 Passats (4motion sedan was mine and hers a 4 motion wagon - same color too 😣) back in the day. More recently we did it with Alltracks, one black and one United Grey. At some point we always go, why do we have two of the same dang car? 🤨 the ownership periods of them didn’t last too long, lol.

Haha if only matching our clothes was as easy as the cars  In your case, at least one was a wagon and the other was a sedan.

For us, this started about 3 months ago when I was ready to swap out of the Jeep and it was between this, X35D, or an Allroad. Once we started looking at them my girlfriend decided to drive a Touareg I was looking at and immediately fell in love; especially considering she came from a TDI a few years ago. We did some talking about how weird our neighbors would think we are but ultimately decided thats what we both wanted. Our local VW dealer service manager lives on the next street over so please believe when we had them in for their first service we got some jokes...dealer experience has been 10 fold better than BMW thus far ;)

How do you like the Alltrack? We live in Subaru country but you'd never catch me wanting one. I'd love to have an Alltrack around for smaller adventures.

Hello and welcome to the forums. Congrats on your purchase(s).
Nice rides. I really like the saddle brown seats in the Exec. model.
As a side not you might want to invest in a Ross Tech VCDS. There's a bunch of tweaks you can do to these vehicles.

Thank you for the warm welcome! I'm absolutely loving VW life so far. Never thought I would own one after being an avid BMW guy but I'm just wow'd by the community and quality of these things. I wasn't sold on the saddle brown at first but I've sine fallen in love with the color combo. Originally couldn't get over what was taught to me in business school of never wearing a brown belt with black shoes...good thing I moved into construction management ;)

Yeah I will certainly be purchasing the Ross Tech. Did some research on it before buying the vehicle...wanted to make sure I had an interface like BMW INPA to have my bit of fun :)

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

I think you got great deals on those rides, especially if they have remaining emissions warranty on them and I assume that they both have at least 20k of coverage right now. Our 2014 TDI Exec is at 170k miles. It has about 1k of warranty left and if we could "roll it back" to 100k of mileage for 14k I think we'd do it in a heartbeat. Pretty sure we could sell ours quickly for $10k or low teens because they are hard to find around here.

Thank you! When we found both of these I made sure to do the vin lookup on both, they had they fix around this time last year but were only sold to us within the past month, and only gained about 300 miles since the fix. So nice having that warranty life left. It was a big deciding factor in us buying these; especially when they are selling for, on average, $4k more for something with 80k miles. Already had some warranty work done for a Nox on mine and a gas temp sensor on hers, not one single issue at the dealer about it. Even cut us discounts on our oil changes..$78 after tax ;)

New to us but we are both absolutely in love with them. I'm not one to shy away from miles so I hope to keep them in tip top for the next 100k so it makes me very excited to hear you are at 170k. Any big things I should look out for except for the typical central driveshaft bearing, brakes, etc.?

Guarantee you could sell for 10k, especially being the Exec. I've seen a few Lux at the 150k mark going for 14k here in Colorado.

Nice meeting you!

Read pg 8

Focus on the words "greater of" and "or".
As soon as you say "or", it means Option A or Option B.... you can't have a "concurrent" anything IF there is only one option...... you need at least TWO things in order to have them be concurrent (or take place at the same time, etc)

My point was that the calculation didn't make sense without the details that you provided later in this exchange.

Regardless, the expiry they gave you checks out based on those latter details, so all is clear.

I 100% agree with that. If they are literally the same apple then how can you have two; I was just going by the lingo used on their emissions website.

Glad we got this sorted out, in the future I will be a bit more specific so we can avoid these little disputes lol.

Notice you have quite the post count on here so I'm assuming you know your way around these things. When I start tearing into ours for diy goodies I hope to have you chime in on my posts.

Good chat and have a great rest of your day!

I have a $h1t disturber reputation so a lot of my posts are arguments with people.... so use that count cautiously....

..... but on the other hand, I may or may not know what I'm talking about...... the jury is still out on that one
Hahaha we all have to stir the pot from time to time so I get it. I appreciate the honesty though!

Well I will be sure to take it with a grain of salt.;) Regardless, I'd rather have some input than none at all.
