Hi All,
It's time we got together again and have bit of fun around the tracks. Plus it will be an opporunity to check out the new Touareg VW will be bringing out for the day to play with us(yes request has been considered/confirmed). Good chance to see how it performs offroad too :D

I'm aiming for mid August for us to meetup and run down the Sunny Corner track and back to Sydney. (C'mon Neil time to repeat history with the Q5 :)
Similar to other times we can meet up at the cafe on great western. Will post exact details of time, location, etc later

Now who's free and up for this gtg and getting close & personal with the new Touareg.....

Cheers
Singh

Hi Singh,

Received your message. The Touareg hasn't seen many kilometers in the past year. I am in. Looking forward to it. I only have one weekend that might be an issue and that is the weekend of the 13th August.

#20 ·

#17 ·
20/21 august is good

A Saturday works best for me, but the 28th is my better option if you are doing Sundays.
Can't make the 20-21st.
Ship has just docked in Melbourne to unload the new beast so 13-14th or 27-28th will work for me.

Any indication from Volkswagen what model they intend to bring? And will an Amarok be coming as a support vehicle :)

My wife is a Midwife.......she reckons you can do a lot with a bucket, gaffa tape and some imagination. Just my humour. I can remember all 3 of my mutts (er, kids) being born....never miss it.:)

will confirm the final date shortly, so far the aim is either of the last two weekends in Aug....would be good to have you there tsouga....and ofcourse your new pride and joy Flipper Dog

Very keen! Will be landing in Sydney from NZ sat 20th, so sunday or the next weekend would be good. My tyres are highway and fairly worn. Keen to see what the car can do, esp since I got home on sat night from 3 weeks away at Cape York with my son in his nissan. That is to say my car stayed home and every creek we came across I was checking to see if I would have been willing to take the touareg through.

great stuff, more the merrier ofcourse.
At this stage this is definitely happening, and it appears VW will bring two new Touaregs inc a 4XMotion variant.
As much I'd like to have a date which suits everyone I'm at the mercy of VW and when they can have the vehicles available, considering its early in their launch and they are inundated with obligations.
We are still aiming for either of the last two weekends, preferably a saturday.

We'll meet up at Little Hartley early in the morning so we can catchup and ogle at the cars before taking the road to Sunny Corner and finish up at Capertee as usual. days are getting longer again but will still aim to wrap up the day by 5ish.

For anyone new this track is safe(with disclaimer ofcourse) with some good ascents/decents and small water crossings. It requires low range but Neil has proven that a Q5 can manage it with some careful driving and push of the pedal!

See you all soon!

okay VW we have final confirmation; it would have to be Saturday 20th of August and they will bring two new 2011 Touaregs.
Similar to other times we'll meet at Hartley Valley Tea House (Great Western Hghwy/5 Baaners Ln, Little Hartley NSW 2790 0263552048) at 9am.
This will give us about an hour to have breakfast/coffee, check out the new Touaregs
and then set off on our way off road. (Plenty of time enroute to take pics and check out
the new Touaregs and its strengths on & off road.
Pls bring some tucker as lunch(picnic) will be halfway between Sunny Corner & Capertee.

Here's a copy of some details from the previous post:
Here's the 'fast facts'*:
Where: Sunny Corner to Capertree
When: Sunday, 9am @ Hartley
Start distance from sydney: 170kms (west)
Trek Distance: 45kms
Finish at Capertree & drive back to Lithgow approx 50mins
Standard: medium...quite safe but plenty of hair raising moments with heartbeats over 150! Low range required, Steep ascents/descents & small creek crossings.
Fuel n supplies: Lithgow & Capertree.
Weather: Temp was between 2 to 10 degrees around the area.

See ya all soon!

I'm in

Singh

I'm in. Will chat separately about when we'll meet up. Btw Markus my safari snorkel fits perfectly ;) Along with the long range tank, bull bar, spare wheel carrier.

Now that I've gobbed on, I hope I don't need to be snatched.

look forward to catching up.
