Not really. Depends on how long dealer has had the car. Need to find out when dealer got it and/or build date. You are covered as a new vehicle. Mine had 100 miles on it due to dealer trade but it was new.

Make the best deal you can. There are others out there so don't get too emotional with this one. You can get a good deal on a 2013 if the miles bug you. Good luck!

Yeah, I love the 2013's as well since there are so many more color choices for them available compared to the remaining 2012's, but there are no financing deals on them right now. Would probably need to wait until end of year or next spring to see any deals financing deals on them?

Yes, the financing is key. Makes the 2012 more appealing. Used to be very rare for TDIs to ever have special financing. For the 2012s, I think the 0% was around for at least 9 months.

The alignment was way off before I took delivery of my Executive. After a week, 3 different shops, finally, goes straight down the road. Also, there was a blown speaker on the Dynaudio system. Dealer replaced it, one week lead time for the part.

Sales staff knowledge of the Touareg was very limited.

Spend several hours (away from dealer) with the vehicle before you take delivery.

Well, I decided to put the purchase of the 2012 TDI Exec on hold for the time being. For a couple of reasons:

1) I really want to check out the 2013 Audi Q5 3.0T when it hits the dealer lots in December.
2) Second, I think I would prefer to go with a 2013 Touareg TDI. More color choices than the remaining few 2012's around me.

One quick question, for those of you who purchased new Touareg's and got the 0% financing, when did you see that deal start during the year?

Fincher, you got your at 0% about 9 or 10 months ago? I'm assuming that was for 60 months?

Not sure when the 0% will return. Typically, VW does not offer 0% on TDIs, and when it does, it is short-lived. For 2012, there was 0% for several months (at least 9 months) on TDIs, actually just about any VW. Last year was not typical.

I purchased in late October. I was lucky that my dealer had a 2012 Exec in the exact color combo I wanted. They made me a great deal to move the older model. I opted for the extended warranty, which they gave me a significant discount on, and I rolled the cost of it all into the 0% financing special. The local dealer is great, there was a small delay in getting the T3 ready the day we picked it up so he said "Let's go shopping!" And he took my wife and me into the VW accessory shop they had and we got free key fobs, sweatshirts, hoodies and caps. We are stylin' now! And I haven't even made my first car payment! A great experience.

My 0% financing was during January 2012 -- 5-year monthly amortization of principal only.

I purchased mine in February 2012 with 0%.

BradB, you sir, dealt with what appears to be a first-class sales team. That is a great story.

Indeed. In fact I did something few do. I wrote a letter of appreciation to the owner of the dealership (He owns several other brand dealerhips as well.) telling him how his team won my business and treated me well. I hoping it helps the sales team out and gains me a little good karma! :)

This thread was a huge help in my decision. Picking up a 2012 TDI Sport Monday! I feel pretty confident that the issues Ive seen (adblue) are resolved. No vibration on the one I found so far. And hard to pass up 0% for 72 months!!! The one I found was exactly how I would have ordered it, well maybe my third choice for color and kinda wish it had a sunroof but other than that I cant complain!!! Looking forward to putting some miles on her!

As of this writing the US inventory (cars.com) has 323 units of 2012 VWT's. 12 Exec, 47 Lux, 78 Sport, 186 unknown.

As for the AdBlue issue, I would agree with another poster to say the defect shows on relatively few units (the nearest I can swag are 7,700 units of 2012, with 7535 units in 2011) and the VW dealers resolves the issue, when the defect manifests.

The low ad blue screen warming for my 2012 VW T S showed up at 13,000 miles with 1,500 miles left. Still, I made a bee line to the dealer where they promptly filled it with (app 32 oz) short of 5 gals (608/640 oz swag) of ad blue (2 ea 2.5 gal containers @ 11 per container) The consumption was .0467692 of an oz per mile. So to put this in English (per 1000 miles) that is roughly 47 oz per 1,000 miles consumption.
