I am starting to think about my next vehicle to replace my 2016 Lux. I would purchase a new Treg, if only that was an option.

In looking for a replacement, I am all over the place: Atlas Cross Sport, Cayenne, Macon, Explorer, Aviator, Q7, Q8, Telluride/Palisades, Pilot, Passport, MDX, Q50, etc. I start looking at vehicles in the $45K to $50K, and then all of a sudden, I am looking at vehicles approaching $90K.

Just curious, what are other Touareg owners considering?

Depends on whether you prefer to stay in the VAG family. Personally I'd go with a Cayenne, which is the closest thing to a Touareg size-wise. A Q8 would be a good choice too.

Just bought my wife an Atlas SE (V6 Fwd). We are happy with that purchase. Would have liked to have all the bells and whistles without the pano-roof, but had to settle on the SE.

I find it very hard to find anything that would compete for how I like to drive. Not aggressive, but enthusiastic. I am not a point-A to point-B driver. I like to enjoy the drive.

Had a '20 Edge Limited for a rental for a week. That was a nice drive.

If I had to replace the Touareg suddenly, I'd be looking at a Golf Sportwagen 4motion; probably have to go slightly used as they are no longer made. A Golf R is a second option.

Longer term, I am watching the GMC Yukon XL with the 3.0L diesel. There is a lot that is unknown about this one, such as reliability, real-world fuel economy, fuel tank size, and towing capacity

My other vehicle is a BMW 328x iDrive Sport Wagon. Fantastic drive, economical, and reliable. I would say that it is a little more refined compared to the Golf. Good comparison.

Been thinking about this lately, too... Honda Passport intrigues me a lot. Also thinking maybe a Tacoma. I don't know, man... like you, I am all over the place. I feel like the new Acura RDX is a good option. Chevy's and GMC's new Tahoe/Yukon also looks appealing. We'll see lol. Watch me end up in a BMW 3 series

Before getting the T'reg this last year, I considered the Q5, Grand Cherokee and Wrangler, Tacoma, X3.... Really came down to economy, capability, and fun to drive. Tough to beat what we already have especially with the TDI and warranty.

I will be keeping the touareg for quite a while since I've only had it for a couple years and only has 62K miles on it. My wife drives a '15 Q5 and she said the only day when we were out, that the T'reg is way better than her vehicle.
If I had to decide right now what I would get to replace it, would probably be a Cayenne. I really like the RS Q8, but will never be able to afford one of those, even used.

If I had to give up my Touareg right now, I'd be going after a ml550, GLS450, Land Cruiser, Cayenne, Q7 w/ supercharged 3.0 - Those would all maintain my current needs in a daily driver.

How is the warranty so long? the class action extension was 4 years/48k from modification or 10/100k from in service date?
well it's 3 yr/36,000 mi basic, 10 yr/100,000 mi powertrain. it depends on the original/first
in-service date.
Yes but his confusion is why did Wang state he has another eight years of warranty
My T has a bit of a story to it. It’s a 2016 stop-sale, it was never sold until 5/2019. So the warranty ticker Began in May of 2019, so the powertrain and dieselgate warranties go to 5/2029 and 100K/120K miles.

Currently at 65K miles so 35K since I scooped it January 2022. Lifetime average per fuelly is 25.6 mpg and I haven’t had a single problem. Love this machine
