Model years 2005 vs. 2004

I may have an opportunity to trade up to a brand new 2004 V8 (many problems with my V6) from my 2005 V6 (5K miles on it).

My question is: Except for the fact that the 2004 is technically a year older, are there any significant reasons why I should not consider this trade? Are there any model year differences that I should know about?

Thanks.

Make sure you get a vehicle in a high VIN range.

I wouldn't look at anything under a 65,000 VIN range for an '04.

There are reports of running changes that made things much better in 04 with vehicles 50k and up.... so you could be safe there as well.

Pete,

What was wrong with the 05?

The "adaptive" transmission has not adapted after two months and shifting/acceleration is extremely poor. The car is not performing as warranted. The dealer assured me that the adaptive nature of the vehicle would eventually allow it to get out of 4th gear in the Sport mode at less than 65 mph and 4000rpm but it never has.

See my several posts in V6 Problems and V6 Transmission.

the last five digits will give you the VIN range. The VIN you gave as an example shows that it is in the 15k range.

Understand???

However, his is in the 2005 15K range, which is considerably different than a 2004 15K vin.
