Hello,

I have an '09 TDI with what I thought was the 9W2 setup. It has bluetooth but is the 9W2 functionality -- no phone book, everything controlled by the phone, etc. It appears on my iPhone as VW UHV. I bought the 9W7 module from MFD3 to improve the bluetooth connectivity. I cannot find it under the passenger seat. It does not appear to be there. There is a large metal module with a HUGE connector plug and a slightly smaller box under that with a slightly smaller plug. It's still nothing like the plug on the 9W7 module. My Touareg has satellite radio, the RNS-510, and the MDI system.

What am I missing? Where oh where can this module be???

I believe it is under the head unit or somewhere around. You will find the wiring from the back of the head unit.

Cool -- can anyone confirm? I'd like to get a 2nd on that before I go removing other stuff...

MYSTERY SOLVED!

The car had volk-l installed in it and the module was stuffed into the right-side footwell between some supporting braces and the body. I pulled it out and swapped it with the 9W7 module. After some modifications to the 9W7 box, some profanity, and some pushing, I got the 9W7 in that space. Now we have reasonably modern bluetooth functionality!

It sounds FAR better than the volk-l unit and is totally controllable through the RNS-510. I'm trying to decide if I need to go get a VAG-COM and enable the MFD utilities...
