Mercedes wheels on a Touareg

Thought y'all might enjoy this-- I wanted a softer ride than the stock 19s, and have put these on:
They are Mercedes G-wagon 18" wheels, iirc ET45. I'm running 265/65/18 Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires.
No rubbing. No air suspension on this stock N.A. spec TDI. But now I feel a lift would look really good here...

Cheers,
Ridwan

Wheel and tire combo looks at home on your ride, I like it.

Wow that's Good point, that's 7.5 %difference overall! They end up being the same exact width but the new ones are much taller

Thanks, y'all!

Yes, def. much higher-- but I went with that size as it's been done reasonably often in Touaregs. One can def. feel the difference in height just getting into the vehicle! I know other people on the forums have done this, but I have not made any fuel economy calculations.

The ride is much nicer with these--as expected, on the positive side-- much more bump compliance. Also as expected, on the negative side, you feel the tires wander a bit-- I am not sure how much of that is due to the treads, vs just the higher sidewall. It's not enough to need correction, or even to be annoying, and most people may not even notice-- but I'm sensitive to vehicles, and it's worth mentioning.
Obviously, one can't test out a tire in one size for a few weeks and then go change, so I went with the look and quality tires!
There's someone with a black Touareg that also has a sweet winch install and a lift, I'll put the link here when I find it, that was my inspiration. If the economy hadn't changed just now, the lift would be sooner in the cards, but I have a difference vehicle for off-roading, so this will just stay as is and look pretty :)

Now here's the question-- do I fit a Mercedes badge on the grille, just to mess with people? (I've already had a quizzical look from a neighbor standing next to it: "wait, I thought you went with a Volkswagen this time?"

Lol, I think I'd leave the Mercedes badge out. As far as the difference in tire size, keep in mind it's going to get your warranty to expire sooner. Also don't forget to multiply your miles traveled by 7.5% to get a more accurate reading when figuring out mileage

The car actually only stands just over 1 inch taller but it's always nice to see the wheel arches filled out.

As for the speedo, Touaregs typically over actual speed by about 5% so the speedo is probably now under reading actual speed by about 1 mph at 30mph and 2 mph at 60.

It's easy enough to check using GPS on a level road.

ALL German cars are programmed to show you a few percent higher on the speedo in an effort to ensure you're never speeding due to a speedometer error. It's all electronic programming but the odometer is still dead on accurate. You still must account for the 7.5% difference in overall size changes.

I realize the OP may not be here anymore as he hasn't been active in several months, but I'm curious to know if the Gwagon rims are the 18x7.5" version listed here.

I had posted a new thread yesterday attempting to see how I could fit one of the older Gwagon rims, an 18x9.5" onto the car when it comes flush with the caliper and which spacers and bolts to make those work at this link.

But I'm wondering on a 2013 TDI Lux if the 18x7.5" Gwagon rims that you have are the ones that fit flush. I have the option of either set of rims right now (I own the 9.5" and am looking at the 7.5" and own another set of 19x8.5" Niche wheels).

Anyone else who wishes to comment is quite welcome as well. Thank you.
