Hi Schubie. I've recently purchased some Cooper AT/3 265/65/17 tyres. No rubbing but a close fit.

Do you think this tire size 265/65R-17 will rub with mudflaps / splash guards installed? Looks like at full tilt there is about a .5" of clearance, but not sure how much depth the mudflaps would add.

I'm running a 2010 T2 TDI with Air and ordered some BFG T/A KO2s

They are HEAVY. These will definitely eat into your gas mileage doing city driving. Highway, you'll probably take a 2+mpg hit depending on how pedal happy you are.

Fitment was not an issue. I am getting mudflaps installed and I think clearance should be fine.

It does say MAX 40PSI on sidewall, but I think these can be inflated higher without issue.

I am offroading this weekend, so will report back.

This is a 2010 TDI.

I forgot to post up pics of my 275/45 R20 Conti Extreme Contact DWS 06 mounted up.

New rubber finally showed up today! Can't wait to get it installed. My Touareg is finally going to be all grown up with the lift kit and some proper offroad tires.

Toyo Open Country AT2 265/60/18 to replace the Toyo Open Country HT 255/55/18s that were on when I bought my 'Treg and are completely gone.

I'll post up photos after the install as well.

thanks for the update. glad to hear there are no issues with the intercooler vents.

Here's an example with 285/35/22 tyres... It's a tow vehicle and is a daily driver, so not for off-roading really.

No touching the guards, and been through motor registration.

Finding this size tire can be a little challenging though.

Then i got keen and did some plasti-dip.

20" TSW Setup

I used to run a 275/45/20 on my last tree but I felt like it didn't fill the wells enough and tended to look small so this is my new setup:

285/50/20 Yokohama Parada Spec X
TSW 20x10 with 50mm offset (no spacers)

I originally did not have any rubbing until I got an alignment but now I do get minimal rubbing but only on the front fender well hump.

I have a '13 TDI with 20" rims, 275/45R20 these tires have a diameter of 29.9" and width of 9.4"
I'd like to go with a 295/45R20 which is 30.6" and a width of 10.2" to give me a little more rim protection.
Will the 295's fit without spacers? or am I better off staying with the stock size?

Currently our rig is running stock 19s with 275/45 Conti DWS. Great set up for the pavement. Tires are a bit pricey, and they wear a bit fast. But, what an amazing all around tire. Even airing down to under 20psi to take on the sand, and rock of the beachs I fish, they've yet to let me down.

But, it's time to put some more rubber between the ground and wheel set. I feel like it's just a matter of time before I get myself in trouble off the beaten path.

So, I'm looking at doing 17x8(+50 offset) wheels with LT265/70R17 Toyo Open Country MTs. The tire calc says they're a 31.6 tire. Can anyone verify this from first hand experience? Some pictures would be great, too. And, will the wheel offset be an issue? Or, should I go the 18 inch route with a 275/65-18? What is the ideal offset for both 17 & 18" wheel sizes?

For the folks with more offroad oriented setup, is there a reason everyone is going with a wider than stock tire (265 vs 235)? If more sidewall is better why aren't folks putting on 235/75r17 or 245/75r17 to achieve the desired overall diameter of ~31" but with heaps more sidewall than say a 265/65
