Hi everyone - I'm a new Cayenne TDI owner and have been trying to find exhaust options for this truck. I have had little to no luck but ran a crossed the concept of the notion of active exhaust systems. One in particular seems to be a bit more popular in Europe but I can't find anything about them here in the US.

They are called Maxhaust. If you YouTube maxhaust for Touareg v6tdi you will see a cool video.

Anyone have any experience with Maxhaust or other active exhaust systems?

Don't recall ever reading about this.

*barf*

A speaker does not make a nice exhaust system!

Having been nearly run over by a silent electric car maybe an external V8 recording is a good idea!

All of these electronic exhaust units sound horrible on Youtube. I bet they sound even worse in person. Any self-respecting car fanatic will laugh at you!

The day I drive an electric vehicle that has a V8 sound speaker is the day I hang up my driver's license and live on a boat!

Ouch! Haha :). Appreciate everyone's opinions. BMW I heard even in the M series cars uses active exhaust. Anyway...my Cayenne is fast, it just lacks sound for ultimate experience. I put Blue Spark on it to give more throttle responsiveness but it makes noise. Don't know if we are going to keep BS.

Anyone else familiar with any other real exhaust enhancement?

Seriously, a custom exhaust shop should be able to get you kitted out nicely. But be aware, unless you remove the DPFs, it won't have much sound, even with the rear muffler completely removed.

E-Exhaust is like calling these rigs a truck, good god. If you want more noise then presumably you’d want the added power to back up all that noise. Kinda like a miniature poodle with an E bark of a Rottweiler.... come on, see how silly that sounds (and is...). Get a custom exhaust or better yet buy a bolt on like Rawtek or Buzzken, get some tools and bolt it on. Then remove the suitcase resonator on the rear and be proud of your work, you can purchase pre mandrel bent exhaust pieces and custom tips. E exhaust tone.... sorry man but that is so lame, you own a beautiful rig please do it justice and open up the exhaust and chip it. You and we will be glad you did.

As a start google Malone tuning and Rawtek exhaust. I put Rawtek exhaust on our sig Touareg was a relatively easy complete bolt on mid exhaust that deletes the SCR and DPF exhaust canisters and plumbs back into stock exhaust. Malone tuning provided a performance tune (there are 3 stages I went with Stage 2), and shut off the AdBlue system.

Rawtek is a Canadian Co., fit and quality of parts are excellent, (made of high quality USA Stainless Steel), Malone is Canadian too and I’m pretty sure have a dealer network in the USA. Not sure if you have to meet emissions (heh heh... Diesel gate an all) in Dallas area, we don’t have that, (annual emissions or any) here. Sound on ours is not much different inside the cabin and perhaps growls a little more on hard excellerations. Power and fuel economy is very noticeably improved, provided you keep your foot out of it which can be a challenge.

Some of the guys here have deleted the suitcase muffler along with DPF, SCR canisters and notice much more exhaust tone.

You could also check out a local performance exhaust shop in your area and have them replace the suitcase muffler and add a Rawtek, once you put tunes on from Malone. Thinking your warranty may be impacted though, best to discuss with Malone and Dealership. I know here some VW dealerships will install Malone tuning.

A good remap will give you another 40 to 50 BHP delivered quietly and effectively.

Surely that makes far more sense than a fake exhaust noise provided by a loudspeaker which reminds me of this! [remove the space before youtube]
