went off road today and noticed the trans clicking when in low range. I believe this is normal since power is being transferred to the wheel with the most traction. At least I hope so. Can anyone confirm or deny this clicking issue?

I haven't heard any clicking when in low. Hopefully others will chime in here, but on initial thought, I'd call your VW service dept. and get your advisor's thoughts (providing your dealer is worth his salt).
