VAG Com does not let you mess with anything on the engine management side of things. So not sure how you are planning to access that stuff since it will not allow you to do it that way. They did that on purpose so people would not come back to them with messed up non running cars.

0004153 was the original USA 2004 model year code, and 004136 was the Rest of World code for that year. ROW code upgrade for 2005 was 004200. Fast forward to my 2008 T2, the code is 0004216.

Here is a quote of excellent info from user gaijin I just dug up below.

In Control Module 02 (Automatic Transmission):

+0004136 - Rest of World (ROW) through Model Year 2005
+0004153 - USA through Model Year 2005

+0004200 - ROW from Model Year 2006
+0004216 - USA from Model Year 2006

So ... Your Model Year '04 should have code 4153 in it and you would want to change it to 4136.

The info from which I pulled the 4200 code for ROW 2005 was from a post on 05/06/2008. I did not record the source.

If you change to row code, don't you think the engine code must be changed also. I read engine is set up better in Europe type car, the engine and trans have to work together to create the power animal we call the touareg.
